Search action revealed that at the behest of Chinese individuals, more than 40 bank accounts were created in various dummy entities, entering into credits of more than ₹ 1,000 Crore over the period.
A subsidiary of Chinese company and its related concerns have taken over ₹ 100 Crore bogus advances from shell entities for opening businesses of retail showrooms in India.
Further, incriminating documents in respect of hawala transactions and laundering of money with active involvement of bank employees and Chartered accountants has been found as a result of search action. Evidences of foreign hawala transactions involving Hongkong and US dollars have also been unearthed

Punjab government employees in Chandigarh and Mohali went on a four-day pen-down strike against the state’s decision to reduce their
mobile phone allowance and
cut down the pay scale for new recruits to bring it on par with the Central pay scale.
The employees staged protests and raised slogans against the state government for its apathetic attitude towards their demands.
Punjab and Union Territory Employees’ Joint Front Convener Sukhchain Singh Khaira said the employees have also stopped work at the offices of Cabinet ministers at the Civil Secretariat and added that the pen-down strike would continue till August 14.
Khaira said employees were against the government’s decisions to reduce their mobile phone allowance and cut down the pay scale for new recruits. They are also demanding release of pending dearness allowance, arrears, implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission and restoration of the old pension scheme.
Khaira warned of a complete strike on August 18 across the state.

Famous Urdu poet Rahat Indori, who was being treated for COVID-19, died of a heart attack at a hospital
Indori was undergoing treatment at Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences.
In the morning, the lyricist-poet tweeted about his confirmed COVID-19 report and said he will keep everyone updated through social media.
“After initial symptoms of COVID-19, my corona test was done yesterday which came out positive. Pray that I defeat this disease as soon as possible,” Indori said in his last post.
With a 50-year career in poetry, Indori was known for the lyrics of songs like “M Bole toh” from Munnabhai MBBS (2003), Chori Chori Jab Nazrein Mili from Kareeb (1998), Koi jaye to le aye from Ghatak (1996), and “Neend Churai Meri” from Ishq (1997).
Earlier this year, his poem “Bulati hai magar jane ka nahi” went viral on social media, rendering him a sensation among the youth.

Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Tuesday sought from Prime Minister Narendra Modi a liberal financial package to fill the revenue collection gap caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The chief minister raised the demand during a video conference meeting of the prime minister with chief ministers to review the coronavirus situation.
Punjab has seen 50 per cent decline in revenue for the first quarter of the current financial year.
The chief minister also said the cap of 35 per cent in the State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF) for COVID-19 related expenditure, as per the Ministry of Home Affairs guidelines, is not sufficient to meet the current requirements and sought flexibility in coronavirus-related terms of expenditure.
Singh also thanked the Union government for accepting Punjab’s proposal to set up a National Institute of Virology for the north zone and said the state government will soon give 25 acres of land for the institute
The chief minister also urged Modi to review the University Grants Commission’s decision on mandatory exams for final year classes to be held by September 30.
Punjab may not be in a position to conduct exams in September as it may witness a peak in COVID-19 cases at that time, Singh pointed out.
He suggested promoting these students on the basis of past performance and internal assessment, with the option to take exams later for those wanting to improve their performance.
Singh said the state has been witnessing a rising number of coronavirus cases and it has reached 24,891 with 604 deaths.
He also sought central government assistance for online school education, especially for poor children of Classes X and XII.
More money is needed for creating the infrastructure needed to support online education, he said during the meeting.
Though Punjab is conducting 23,000 tests per million for COVID-19, and planned to increase RT-PCR (Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction) tests from 12,000 to 20,000 in the next 15 days, it needed to scale up the testing capacity further, Singh stressed.
He requested Modi to direct the Union government institutions in Chandigarh and Punjab to increase testing capacity, as already written to him earlier.
Expressing concern over the state’s mortality rate of 2.4 per cent, Singh said though it is lower than the all India deaths per million and 91 per cent of the fatality cases were people with comorbidities, it is still higher than neighbouring Haryana.
Patients are coming to hospitals late and 86 per cent deaths have occurred in tertiary hospitals, he added.

The Punjab government on Saturday had decided to withdraw the police security given to Bajwa, saying he enjoys the central security cover and virtually faced no threat.
The decision had come days after Bajwa and another Congress Rajya Sabha MP, Shamsher Singh Dullo, sought a CBI probe into the illegal liquor trade in the state.
Commenting on it, the AAP chief in a statement asked why members of the Badal family continue to enjoy the state police security if it is withdrawn from the Congress MP on the pretext that he has been accorded a central security cover.
Why this criterion could not be applied to other politicians like the Badal family and SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia who have been granted security cover by the central security agencies as well as the Punjab Police, Mann asked.
Slamming the CM for allegedly not tolerating his own criticism, the Sangrur MP said the Amarinder Singh government could go to the “extreme” extent against anyone, even if they are senior leaders of their own party for criticising its functioning.
