(New Delhi) PM Modi Asks to Enhance Satisfaction of Power Consumer
The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi reviewed the work of the Ministry of Power and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, last evening. Policy initiatives including revised Tariff Policy and the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2020 to redress the problems afflicting the power sector were discussed.
Prime Minister Modi emphasized the need to enhance consumer satisfaction while increasing operational efficiency, and improving financial sustainability of the power sector. He pointed out that the problems in the power sector, especially of the electricity distribution segment, vary across regions and states. Instead of looking for a one-size-fits-all solution, the Ministry should put in place state-specific solutions to incentivize each state to improve its performance.

He advised the Ministry of Power to ensure that the DISCOMs publish their performance parameters periodically so that the people know how their DISCOMs fare in comparison to the peers. He also emphasized that equiement usages in power sector to be make in India.

Punjab has witnessed a spurt in wheat stubble burning incidents with the number of fire incidents surpassing 11,000 during April 15 to May 22 period
According to satellite data provided by Ludhiana-based Punjab Remote Sensing Centre, 11,844 wheat stubble burning incidents have been reported in the state.
The figure of fire incidents in the corresponding period of 2018 and 2019 was 10,993 and 10,114 respectively, the data showed.
The state on Friday reported 431 wheat straw burning incidents which was also in excess of 98 and 330 incidents reported on the same day in 2018 and 2019 respectively, according to the data.
The number of fire incidents continued to rise despite the Chief Minister Amarinder Singh this month had appealed farmers to desist from stubble burning.

President Donald J. Trump Approves Mississippi Disaster Declaration
Today, President Donald J. Trump declared that a major disaster exists in the State of Mississippi and ordered Federal aid to supplement State, tribal, and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by severe storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds, and flooding on April 12, 2020.
The President’s action makes Federal funding available to affected individuals in the counties of Covington, Jefferson Davis, and Jones.
This assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster.
Federal funding is also available to State, tribal, and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency protective measures in the counties of Covington, Jefferson Davis, and Jones.
Finally, Federal funding is available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures statewide.
Pete Gaynor, Administrator, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Department of Homeland Security, named Jose M. Girot as the Federal Coordinating Officer for Federal recovery operations in the affected areas.

President Donald J. Trump declared that a major disaster exists in the State of Colorado and ordered Federal assistance to supplement State, tribal, and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic beginning on January 20, 2020, and continuing.
Federal funding is available to State, tribal, and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations for emergency protective measures, including direct Federal assistance, for all areas in the State of Colorado impacted by COVID-19.

(Puducherry) Dr Kiran Bedi Allows Tourists Visit at 18th Centuary’s Raj Niwas During Morning Also
LG Kiran Bedi made the announcement on Thursday, while addressing a team of French tourists visiting the 18th century building housing office cum residence of the Lt Governor.
She noted that tourists including foreigners visited the Union Territory mostly in the mornings.
Bedi told the tourists after registering their views on the Union Territory that in addition to the time allotted for them to visit the imposing and palatial premises during mid day now the building maintained as a heritage structure would be open to visitors in the mornings also.
Tourists and school children from outside Puducherry make a beeline to Raj Nivas, earlier called “Palais du Gouverneur”, every day to have a glimpse of the historic structure.
According to official records, the foundation of Raj Nivas was laid by the then French Governor Dumas in 1735.

NGT Slapped ₹ 10k Fine on GZB Municipal Commissioner

(New Delhi) NGT Slapped ₹ 10k fine on Ghaziabad Municipal Commissioner for not Maintaining Green Belt
The National Green Tribunal on Wednesday imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 each on the Ghaziabad Municipal Commissioner and the executive officer of the civic body for their failure to remove encroachments in the green belts in compliance of its direction.
A bench headed by Justice Raghuvendra S Rathore asked the municipal corporation to execute its order on removal of encroachments within 30 days.
In case of failure to do so, the said cost shall be recovered as arrears of land revenue by the Collector from the officers, in their individual capacity
The petitioners had sought action against the encroachments in the green belt area and reckless dumping of waste by the municipal bodies.
The plea had alleged that Hotel Radisson Blu which is located at Kaushambi has destroyed the entire green belt situated along with the road solely for their parking purposes and even converted the area into a party lawn.

As per Ministry of Health and Family Welfare ,patient has a travel history from China.
The patient has tested positive for Novel Coronavirus and is in isolation in the hospital.
The patient is stable and is being closely monitored.

कल तक 137 विमानों (कुल यात्री संख्‍या 29707) की स्क्रिनिंग की गई है।१२ लोगों के नमूने लिए गए
कैबिनेट सचिव की आज की बैठक में नोवेल कोरोनावॉयरस’ फैलने से उत्‍पन्‍न स्थिति के बारे में चर्चा की गई
चीन में ‘नोवेल कोरानावॉयरस’ फैलने से उत्‍पन्‍न स्थिति की भारत मे समीक्षा शुरू कर दी गई है
१ बैठक में स्‍वास्‍थ्‍य, विदेश, नागर विमानन, श्रम, रक्षा तथा सूचना एवं प्रसारण मंत्रालय के सचिव और राष्‍ट्रीय आपदा प्रबंधन प्राधिकरण के सदस्‍य सचिव तथा महानिदेशक (सशस्‍त्र सेना चिकित्‍सा सेवा) उपस्थित थे।
२ कैबिनेट सचिव को बताया गया कि कल तक 137 विमानों (कुल यात्री संख्‍या 29707) की स्क्रिनिंग की गई है।
३ 12 यात्रियों के नमूने इनआईवी, पुणे को भेजे गये हैं। अब तक किसी व्‍यक्ति में वॉयरस के लक्षण नहीं पाये गये हैं।
