The Delhi government has demanded Rs 5,000 crore assistance from the Centre to be able to pay salaries to its employees, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said on Sunday.
Sisodia, who also holds the finance department charge, said the Delhi government requires Rs 3,500 crore per month to pay salaries to its employees and to meet other needs.
“However in past two months, our GST collection has been only Rs 500 crore each month. We need at least Rs 7,000 crore to be able to pay salaries to our employees many of whom are discharging frontline duties against the coronavirus epidemic,” Sisodia said in a press conference.
The Deputy CM said that in a letter to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, he had demanded Rs 5,000 crore from the Centre as Delhi did not get anything from the disaster relief fund that was given to other states.

Specialist doctors on bond in the tribal belts will now get Rs 85,000 instead of Rs 70,000,
In other parts of the state, MBBS doctors will get Rs 70,000 instead of Rs 55,000,
while specialists will get Rs 80,000 instead of Rs 65,000
In Maharashtra, all MBBS, MS, MD, diploma and super specialty doctors graduating from government and municipal medical colleges have to render mandatory service to the government for a stipulated period.

The Indian Performing Right Society (IPRS) has announced the release of an additional tranche of emergency relief fund for its members facing financial crisis during the nationwide lockdown amid coronavirus pandemic.
As per Press Release The fund will support around 3500 writers and composers in the music fraternity, across the country, whose livelihoods have been deeply impacted by COVID-19
Soon after the lockdown was announced to combat COVID-19 situation in the country on March 24, IPRS, a copyright society mandated by the government of India, as a custodian of its creator members, had declared an emergency relief package.

No Reduction of Pension of 65.26 Lakh Pensioners:Centre

There are 65.26 lakh central government pensioners.
There is no proposal for reduction of pension and no action is being contemplated by the government in this respect, the Centre said on Sunday.
The assertion assumes significance as rumours are afloat that the government is contemplating reduction or stoppage of pension.
It has come to the notice of the Department of Pensions and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) that, in the wake of the current pandemic COVID-19 and the ensuing economic scenario, many rumours are afloat that the government is contemplating a reduction or stoppage of pension which has become a source of worry for the pensioners, the government said in a communique.
“As clarified earlier, it is being reiterated that there is no such proposal for reduction of pension and no action is contemplated by the government in this respect. Instead, the government is committed for the welfare and well being of the pensioners,” the communique issued by the DoPPW said.

कोविड-19 परिप्रेक्ष्य में ग्रामीण डाक सेवक (जीडीएस) सहित सभी डाक कर्मचारियों को कर्तव्य निवर्हन के दौरान बीमारी का शिकार हो जाने पर 10 लाख रुपये की क्षतिपूर्ति का भुगतान किया जाएगा।
ये दिशानिर्देश संकट की समाप्ति तक पूरी अवधि तक के लिए लागू रहेंगे।

ग्रामीण डाक सेवक सहित डाक कर्मचारी ग्राहकों को मेल डिलीवरी, डाक घर बचत बैंक, डाक जीवन बीमा देने, एईपीएस सुविधा के तहत किसी भी बैंक और किसी भी शाखा से ग्राहकों के दरवाजे तक धन की निकासी को सरल बनाने के विभिन्न दायित्वों का निर्वाह कर रहे हैं।
इसके अतिरिक्त, डाक घर स्थानीय राज्य प्रशासन एवं पुलिस अधिकारियों के साथ संपर्क कर देश भर में कोविड-19 किट, फूड पैकेट, राशन एवं अनिवार्य दवाओं आदि की प्रदायगी भी कर रहे हें।

Today, President Donald J. Trump declared that a major disaster exists in the State of Mississippi and ordered Federal aid to supplement State, tribal, and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by severe storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds, and flooding on April 12, 2020.
The President’s action makes Federal funding available to affected individuals in the counties of Covington, Jefferson Davis, and Jones.
This assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster.
Federal funding is also available to State, tribal, and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency protective measures in the counties of Covington, Jefferson Davis, and Jones.
Finally, Federal funding is available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures statewide.
Pete Gaynor, Administrator, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Department of Homeland Security, named Jose M. Girot as the Federal Coordinating Officer for Federal recovery operations in the affected areas.

State ministers have already decided to donate their three months’ salary to the CM’s relief fund.
The appeal to the employees was made after a meeting of the finance sub-committee, headed by Chief Minister Amarinder Singh.
At the meeting, Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal said the state was expected to earn at least Rs 22,000 crore less than its estimates for the current fiscal.
Against the estimated revenue receipts of Rs 88,000, the state will be able to generate only Rs 66,000 crore in the light of the curfew/lockdown, which has brought all business to a standstill, the minister said.
Later, Chief Secretary Karan Avtar Singh issued an appeal asking all government employees to contribute to the fight against coronavirus.
The chief secretary suggested that Grade A and B employees should contribute 30 per cent of their salary while Grade C and D staff can take 20 per cent and 10 per cent cut for April, May and June.
