Pakistani Singer+Pianist Adnan Sami Gets Indian Citizenship wef 1st January
Adnan Sami has been granted Indian citizenship with effect from January 1 following his request to the Centre to legalise his status in the country on humanitarian grounds.
Officials in the Union Home Ministry said Sami will be an Indian citizen with effect from tomorrow.
As of today, Sami is on a three-month visa extension which was given to him on October 6 by the Ministry.
The 46-year-old singer, who has made India his second home for the past few years, had made a representation to the Home Ministry on May 26 this year requesting his stay in India on humanitarian grounds.
Lahore-born Sami had first arrived in India on March 13, 2001 on a visitor’s visa with the validity of one year which was issued by the Indian High Commission in Islamabad.
His visa was extended from time to time. His Pakistani passport issued on May 27, 2010 expired on May 26, 2015 and his passport was not renewed by the Pakistan government which led him to approach the Indian government with the request to legalise his stay in India on humanitarian grounds.
Sami’s two songs from the album, ‘Kabhi To Nazar Milao’ and ‘Lift Karaa De’, whose music video starred actor Govinda, were a sensation in the early 2000s.
This year the singer tasted success after his song ‘Bhar Do Jholi meri’ in Salman Khan-starrer ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ was a smash hit.

उत्तर प्रदेश के कैबिनेट मंत्री एवं सपा महासचिव आजम खां के खिलाफ देशद्रोह के मामले में वादी के बयान दर्ज हो गये हैं।
वादी पक्ष के वकील अरविन्द सिंह परमार के अनुसार [बदायूं] मुख्य न्यायिक मजिस्ट्रेट मोहम्मद असलम सिद्दीकी की अदालत में बयान दर्ज किये गयेहैं ।
बजरंग दल के जिला संयोजक उज्जवल गुप्ता ने 2011 में आजम के कश्मीर पर दिये एक विवादास्पद बयान पर उनके खिलाफ देशद्रोह का मामला दर्ज कराया था।
अदालत ने सुनवाई की अगली तारीख 20 नवंबर तय की है और इस तारीख पर आजम को तलब किया जा सकता है।
आजम ने दिसंबर 2010 में एक आंदोलन के दौरान कथित रूप से कहा था कि गुलाम नबी आजाद मनमोहन सिंह सरकार में कश्मीर से एकमात्र मुस्लिम मंत्री हैं, जिसके बारे में स्पष्ट नहीं है कि ये भारत का हिस्सा है या पाकिस्तान का।

Geeta, the differently-abled girl who had accidentally crossed over into Pakistan many years ago, met the Prime Minister,Narendra Modi, this evening. She had returned to India earlier today.
“Welcome back home, Geeta” said the Prime Minister, as Geeta embraced him warmly. He assured Geeta that every effort would be made to trace Geeta’s family, and that she will be looked after well. “All of India will take care of you,” the Prime Minister said.
The Prime Minister complimented Ms Bilqis Bano Edhi, Founder of Edhi Foundation, Karachi, for taking care of Geeta with love and affection for so many years.
The Prime Minister announced that India would give the Edhi Foundation Rs. 1 crore, as a token of appreciation, not just for taking care of Geeta, but also for the wonderful work that the Foundation has been doing.
Upon learning that Ms. Bilqis Bano Edhi was born in Bantwa, in Junagadh, Gujarat, the Prime Minister invited her to visit Junagadh along with her family.
External Affairs Minister, Ms. Sushma Swaraj, who was present on the occasion, also complimented Ms. Bilqis and the Edhi Foundation for the love and affection that they have showered on Geeta.

Shiv Sena today accused ORF chief Sudheendra Kulkarni, whose face was blackened by party activists, and threatend to scale up its opposition to former Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri’s book launch
Sena leader Sanjay Raut told reporters that “the man who has organised Kasuri s book launch in Mumbai (Sudheendra Kulkarni) is a Pakistani agent(Maharashtra chief minister Devendra) Fadnavisji has publicly said that Khurshid won’t be allowed to have any anti-India view in his programme and if he does, the organiser will be responsible for it. We welcome the CM’s stand.”
Raut said his party has written a letter to Fadnavis giving all proof that “exposes” Kasuri’s “anti-India” stand.
Claiming that Sena has no “political agenda” behind opposing the book launch event, Raut claimed while Khurshid was Foreign Minister of Pakistan, he was responsible for bringing all extremist anti-India organisations together to “suit their Kashmir agenda.”
He said Sena will continue to boycott all events relating to Pakistan citizens till the neighbouring country stops sponsoring terror.
Earlier in the day, an black paint was sprayed on Kulkarni for not bowing down to Sena’s diktat seeking cancellation of events having Pakistani connection.
Recently, stiff opposition from Shiv Sena led to cancellation of Pakistani ghazal singer Ghulam Ali’s concert in Maharashtra.

शिवसेना के कार्यकर्ताओं ने पाकिस्तान के पूर्व विदेश मंत्री खुर्शीद महमूद कसूरी की पुस्तक के विमोचन समारोह को रद्द करने से मना करने वाले ओआरएफ के अध्यक्ष सुधींद्र कुलकर्णी के चेहरे पर आज कथित तौर पर काली स्याही मल दी।सुधींद्र अटल बिहारी वाजपई की सरकार में महत्वपूर्ण व्यक्ति थे

आयोजक ने कहा, ‘‘हम ऐसी घटनाओं से झुकेंगे नहीं। पुस्तक विमोचन पूर्व योजना के अनुरूप ही होगा।’’ इसके कुछ ही समय बाद वह कसूरी के साथ मीडिया से बातचीत करने के लिए आ गए। इस दौरान भी उनके चेहरे पर काला पेंट लगा ही हुआ था।

[Islamabad] Pakistani Pilots,Leaving Flyers Stranded,Go On Strike Mostly Haj Pilgrims Are Suffering
Hundreds of passengers, mostly Haj pilgrims returning from Saudi Arabia, were left stranded today as about 50 flights of Pakistan’s ailing national carrier PIA were cancelled after the pilots went on strike, demanding better pay and working conditions.
The pilots association of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) went on strike yesterday, accusing the management of forcing them to do extra duties.
This strike resulted in the cancellation of at least 50 domestic and international flights.
As per a government official PIA is trying to negotiate with the pilots to call off the strike.
The airline was currently paying about Rs 3.2 billion to the pilots as salary and perks annually.
