The petitioner Has sought a direction for removal of Javeed from this post.
Allahabad High Court today directed that a writ petition questioning the appointment of Uttar Pradesh director general of police Javeed Ahmad by the state government be put up before a bench related to service matter cases tomorrow.
A Lucknow bench of justices Amreshwar Pratap Sahi and Attau Rahman Masoodi gave the order on the petition by activist Nutan Thakur.
Petitioner’s counsel Ashok Pandey has alleged that Ahmad was appointed superseding 13 IPS officers from the UP cadre when eight of them were available to the state government for consideration,
He claimed that the step was not in line with the Supreme Court ruling.
For the state government, Advocate General Vijay Bahadur Singh along with Additional Advocate General Bulbul Godiyal and Chief Standing Counsel Mansoor Ahmad appeared.
