1081 Regular Cases (RCs) and
75 Preliminary Enquiries (PEs)
were pending investigation/enquiry by CBI as on 31.12.2016. Dr. Jitendra Singh admitted In Rajya Sabha Today
As per Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Dr. Jitendra Singh in a written reply to a question by Shri Harivansh in the Rajya Sabha,Following Steps Are Taken To Minimize The Pending Load
(i) Approval for appointment of 66 Public Prosecutors has been conveyed to CBI.
(ii) Approval has also been conveyed for extension in deputation tenure of 31 Public Prosecutors on contract basis.
(iii)Government has sanctioned additional 92 Special Courts for CBI out of which 88 have become operational.
(iv)Power has been delegated to Director, CBI for extending of deputation in respect of Inspectors in CBI for the 9th and 10th year and also for extensions to 6th, 7th and 8th year which at present is approved by a Committee consisting of 3 members.
(v)CBI has been exempted from consultation with UPSC for recruitment to the post of DSP for a period of 3 years.
(vi)CBI imparts training to its officers/ employees in order to enhance their skills at its training centers.
Recently a scheme namely Advanced Certified Course for CBI officers has been started to enhance their investigation skills, forensic data collection, collection of evidence, skills etc. by providing them training from National Law School of India University (NLSIU) Bangalore and Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore.
(vii) A plan outlay of Rs. 309.52 crore has been allocated for implementation of various schemes viz Modernization of training centers in CBI, CBI e-governance, comprehensive modernization of CBI branches/offices, Construction of CBI office building at Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai and comprehensive modernization and purchase of land/construction office/Residence building for CBI etc. over 12th Five Year Plan

RBI official K Michael has arrested by CBI in Bengaluru in connection with seizure of Rs 5.70 crore in new currecy
He was allegedly trying to exchange Rs 1.50 crore in old notes illegally.
This arrest was made last week.
Two other private persons have also been arrested,

[New Delhi] CBI Solved 393 Cases During The Year ,But Arrested Only 34 Gazetted Officers
From 1st January To 15th July CBI Registered 530 Cases Out Which 393 cases are solved Whereas Only 34 gazetted officers are arrested
aprt from this 45 non gazetted and are booked in 112 corruption cases
CBI has arrested 34 Gazetted Officers,
45 Non-Gazetted Officers of various Government Offices and others in
112 corruption cases during the period from
01.01.2016 to 15.07.2016.
CBI has registered 3970 cases and disposed of 3586 cases from investigation during the last 3 years and current year as on 30.06.2016.

Defence Minister Provides latest updates of Adarsh Housing Society Scam in Lok Sabha
Defence Minister Shri AK Antony Provided latest updates of Adarsh Housing Society Scam ,to C. Rajendranin in Lok Sabha, stating that The Matter is presently sub-judice.
Minister ,in a written reply to Shri C. Rajendranin ,Has Stated That
[1]Ministry of Defence had handed over the investigation of the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and consequently, [2]CBI had registered a case vide RC No.6(A)/11, dated 29.1.2011 against 13 persons including Officers of[a] Defence Estate Office, Mumbai, [b]Army, [c]Government of Maharashtra and [d]certain private persons.
[3]Charge-sheet has been filed by CBI on 4.7.2012 in the Court of Special Judge, Mumbai. Army Officers listed in the charge-sheet filed by the CBI are, [A]namely, Maj. Gen.(Retd) T.K. Kaul;[B] Maj. Gen. (Retd) A.R. Kumar; [C]Brig. (Retd) M.M. Wanchu;[D] Brig. (Retd.) T.K. Sinha; and [E]Col.(Retd) R.K. Bakshi.
The Matter is presently sub-judice.
Shri Antony shared the preventive measures also . [1] Defence land records, as available in Military Land Registers (MLRs) and General Land Registers (GLRs), have been computerized and updated from time to time.[2] Two projects, one on Digitization of land records and the other on Survey of Defence land using modern technology have been undertaken. [3]The guidelines for issuing No Objection Certificates for construction of buildings on lands adjoining Defence lands and instructions regarding ceding of possession of defence land have been issued.[4] Audit of Defence lands is carried out from time to time.
