Farooq Abdullah’s Detention Extended by 3 Months

(Srinagar) The detention of Farooq Abdullah, extended by three months
The case of Abdullah, also a five-term parliamentarian, was reviewed by the advisory board of the Home Department of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir which recommended extension of his detention under the PSA
His house, located at Gupkar Road, has been declared a sub-jail by the union territory’s Home Department.
Eighty-two-year-old Abdullah, who became the first chief minister against whom the stringent public safety law was invoked, has a heart pacemaker implanted and had undergone a kidney transplant a few years ago.
Abdullah was among a host of leaders and activists who were detained on August 5 when the centre abrogated Article 370 and divided the state into two union territories — Ladakh, and Jammu and Kashmir.
Besides Abdullah, his son and former chief minister Omar and ex-CM Mehbooba Mufti, several other leaders have also been under detention since August 5.

Jammu and Kashmir administration has approved Leave Travel Concession (LTC) in favour of its employees benefitting over 3.5 lakh regular government employees working in the Union Territory.
A notification prescribing the mandatory rules has already been issued by the General Administrative Department in this regard, an official spokesman said on Saturday.
,As per the rules a government employee along with the family can travel to any place in India once in a block of four years and to his home town once in a block of two years.
The rules, as per the notification, would be deemed to have come into force from October 31

Postpaid mobile services on all networks were restored in the Kashmir Valley on Monday, 72 days after they were snapped following restrictions.
Some 40 lakh postpaid mobile phones have become operational from Monday noon.
Restrictions were imposed after the Centre on August 5 abrogated the state’s special status and bifurcated it into Union territories of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh, which will come into being on October 31.

Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad was stopped at the Jammu airport on Tuesday and sent back to Delhi,The second time in a month the former chief minister was not allowed to visit Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier on August 8, Azad was briefly detained and sent back from the Srinagar airport after the administration imposed restrictions following the Centre’s move to scrap the state’s special status and bifurcate it into Union territories.

BJP today raked up the issue of granting Rs 10 lakh and martyr status to Jammu resident Chamel Singh, who died in Pakistan’s Kot Lakhpat Jail in 2013, saying repeated pleas to the government for compensation have fallen on deaf ears.
Zero Hour in the legislative assembly has become redundant as his repeated pleas to grant Rs 10 Lakh compensation and martyr status to Chamel Singh who died in Kot Lakhpat jail in Pakistan, as it has fallen on deaf ears, BJP MLA Sat Sharma alleged.
According to his family, Chamel Singh, a resident of Akhnoor in Jammu, had gone missing in 2008 while working in his fields near the International Border.
He was arrested in Pakistan on charges of espionage and was sentenced for five years of imprisonment.
As he was about to complete his term of imprisonment, he died in Kot Lakpat jail in Pakistan, amid reports that he was “mercilessly beaten”, by prison staff two days before his death.
Singh’s body was handed over to the Indian authorities after more than two months of his death.

Centre Approves Subsidized Helicopter Services in J&K & Himachal Pradesh

[New Delhi]Centre Approves Subsidized Helicopter Services in J&K & Himachal Pradesh The Government of India will subsidize the cost towards actual number of entitled passengers utilizing the helicopter services.
No subsidy will be provided for the vacant seats.
Central Government has accorded its approval for operation of helicopter services in the State of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh on a pilot basis in 10 sectors, as per the stipulation that the most inaccessible destination points should be chosen. The scheme can be extended to other/additional sectors at a later date depending upon the assessment of the justifiable needs of the local population.

VIPs, Officers of the State Government on tour, Income tax payers or tourists will not be eligible for subsidized fares. Such persons will have to pay full fare subject to availability of seats.

Interacting with the media before winding up his visit, Rajnath Singh announced that a nodal officer will be designated in MHA to address the grievances of the people of Kashmir directly.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh met about 20 delegations of civil society+some more political parties+Pahari community leaders + several individuals on the second day of his visit to Srinagar today.
A six-member delegation of the resident Sikh community discussed with the Union Home Minister the concerns of minorities in the state.
A 3-member delegation of Panthers Party also met Shri Rajnath Singh.
Earlier a delegation of Coordination Committee of the Janata Dal (United) also met the Union Home Minister.
Later, the Chief Minister of J&K, Ms. Mehbooba Mufti met the Union Home Minister. The two leaders held detailed discussions on security situation and reviewed development projects.
The Union Home Minister also held a meeting with the Governor NN Vohra and State Cabinet Ministers led by Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Kumar Singh.

Rajnath Singh, accompanied by the Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi and Senior Officers of MHA, returned New Delhi later this afternoon.
During his two-day stay at the Nehru Guest House in Srinagar, the Union Home Minister held over ten meetings yesterday with a wide spectrum of political parties and chaired a meeting of Senior Officers of Security Agencies and State Government to review the security situation in the Kashmir Valley. Delegations of all major political parties including the state’s ruling PDP and BJP, main opposition National Conference, besides Congress, CPI(M), regional People’s Conference, People’s Democratic Front and Democratic Party Nationalists held talks with Rajnath Singh.
During his two-day visit the Union Home Minister met about 400 persons in 30 delegations and received their inputs on the J&K situation. He also appealed to the people to help maintain law & order and restore peace.
Mebooba said 95 % people want peaceful solution through dialogue, only five % derailing the process

Broadband Internet Services Also Suspended in Kashmir

[Srinagar,J&K] Broadband Internet Services Also Suspended in Kashmir.Mobile internet services remained suspended for the 36th day.
Broadband internet services were today suspended across Kashmir, except some areas housing government offices and residences of officials, while mobile internet services remained suspended in the valley for the 36th consecutive day.
The broadband services were snapped around 4.30 pm without any reason being assigned for it.
However, the services were restored after half an hour in Bemina+Lal Chowk+ Sonawar areas of the city –
– where most of the government offices and official residences of government officials are located.
The mobile internet services were snapped across Kashmir last month as a precautionary measure to prevent rumour mongering following violent clashes in the wake of killing of Hibzul Mujahideen commander Burhan on July 8 in an encounter with security forces
