[Dehradun,UK] Ex CM Bahuguna Slaps Legal Notice on Harish Rawat
BJP leader Vijay Bahuguna has slapped a legal notice on Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat and his media advisor Surendra Kumar demanding an unconditional public apology from them for accusing him and his family of promoting the interests of a foreign company.
Serving the notice to Rawat and Kumar through his lawyer yesterday, Bahuguna threatened to file a criminal defamation case against them if they did not offer an unconditional public apology for hurling the “baseless” allegation against him and his family.
Rawat’s media advisor and spokesman Kumar at a press conference recently had demanded an investigation by the Enforcement Directorate into the “dramatic rise of a London- based company’s turnover from 50,000 pounds in 2011 to 250 million pounds by April 2013” when Bahuguna was the chief minister of Uttarakhand.
Citing the findings of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists in this regard, Kumar had alleged that Bahuguna’s son was linked to a firm of which the London-based company was a subsidiary.
Bahuguna rebutted the charges as “unfounded” and said they were levelled at the behest of Chief Minister Harish Rawat to malign him ahead of the forthcoming assembly elections in the state

Uttarakhand BJP has demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Harish Rawat following allegations made by a woman in connection with a rape case lodged against BJP leader Harak Singh Rawat,
Making a U-turn, a woman who had accused Harak Singh Rawat of raping her in an FIR, has alleged that she had done so under pressure from Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat.
“Harish Rawat has lost the moral right to stay in office after forcing a woman through his henchmen to lodge a false FIR against Harak Singh Rawat by threatening her with dire consequences if she refused,” state BJP President Ajay Bhatt said in a statement here late last evening.
The woman had alleged in her complaint to the Safdarjung police station that Harak Singh raped her at his residence in the posh Green Park area on July 29.
Rawat was among the nine Congress MLAs who had revolted against Congress’ government in the state assembly on March 18. He is now with BJP along with the rest of the rebel MLAs.
