कथानक
कांजीभाई मेहता के किरदार में परेश रावल चोर बाजार में एंटीक स्टोर के मालिक हैं जो भगवान में विश्वास नहीं करता है और जो विश्वास करता है उन्हें लूटने में पीछे भी नहीं रहता। फिल्म के ओपनिंग में कांजीभाई बहुत ही चालाकी से एक राजस्थानी सेठ को बेवकूफ बनाता है। उसे उसके गहनों के बदले भगवान की मूर्ति बेचकर, जो खुद उसने बहुत ही कम दाम में खरीदी थी।
पर जब भूकंप के दौरान उसके अकेले की दुकान तहस-नहस हो जाती है तो वो उसका इंश्योरेंस क्लेम करने बीमा कंपनी जाता है। कंपनी उसे ये कहकर भगा देती है कि भगवान की मर्जी से हुए हादसों का बीमा कवर नहीं है। परेशान और दिवालिया हो चुका कांजीभाई भगवान और बीमा कंपनी दोनों पर ही केस फाइल कर देते हैं, ये कहते हुए कि इनमें से किसी एक को तो उसके नुकसान की भरपाई करनी पड़ेगी।
कोर्ट में भगवान के अस्तित्व पर सवाल खड़े करने पर उसका सामना करने खड़े हो जाते हैं कई साधु, मौलवी और पुजारी जिनमें से एक स्वामी के किरदार में हैं मिथुन चक्रवर्ती जो हर बार खुद को भगवान का सेल्समैन और धर्म को धंधा कहने पर अपनी नाक फुला लेते हैं। इसी दौरान उसके घर एक नया और अनोखा मेहमान आता है कृष्ण वासुदेव यादव जिसके किरदार में है अक्षय कुमार।यह किरदार कांजीभाई को इस अनोखी कानूनी लड़ाई में मदद करता है। उमेश शुक्ला लिखी और निर्देशित ‘ओह माई गॉड’ अंधविश्वास और जरूरत से ज्यादा धार्मिक रीति-रिवाजों और खुद ही बनाए हुए भगवान के दूतों का विरोध करती है। ये ज्यादा कुछ न कहते हुए मानो ज्यादा भड़काऊ होने से डरती है।
