[Mumbai] Celebrated Novelists Chetan Bhagat Raises Voice For Film Writer Abhishek Kapoor
Author Chetan Bhagat has supported filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor’s fight to get a mention in the credits of “Rock On 2” as a joint writer of the upcoming movie.
The “Kai Po Che” helmer had filed a suit in the High Court seeking credit as a joint writer along with Pubali Chaudhary.
Bhagat, who faced the similar issue during Rajkumar Hirani’s “3 Idiots” as the comedy drama was loosely adapted from his novel “Five Point Someone”, said the writers must get credit.
Bhagat Tweeted “Writers must get credit. Glad @Abhishekapoor got justice.
He backed me once when few others did. #kaipoche,” Bhagat posted on Twitter.
An elated Kapoor wrote, “Thanks for the support bro.”

After assuming charge as Director General of Police (DGP) of Punjab, Suresh Arora today paid obeisance in the sanctum sanatorium of the Golden Temple here.
The 1982-batch IPS officer said that he was here to pay obeisance and to pray before the Almighty for the peace and tranquillity in Punjab.
Arora, who was serving as Chief Director of Vigilance Bureau, was appointed as the new DGP in place of Sumedh Singh Saini yesterday.
The change at the top level in police was made amidst intense attack by opposition on the SAD-BJP government over its handling of the situation that developed after incidents of sacrilege in various parts of the state, during which two persons were killed when police opened fire.

[New Delhi]Bharti Airtel Records 10% Jumps In Profit to Rs 1,523 crore
Bharti Airtel today reported a 10.1 per cent jump in consolidated net profit to Rs 1,523 crore for the quarter ended September 30, on the back of growth in data traffic.
The company had reported a net profit of Rs 1,383 crore for the corresponding period last financial year, Airtel said in a statement.
Reacting to the earnings numbers, the shares of the company were trading at Rs 357.25, down 0.42 per cent on BSE.
Total revenue of the company rose 4.3 per cent to Rs 23,836 crore for the reported period compared with Rs 22,845 crore last year.
The net debt of the company at the end of September 30 stood at Rs 70,777 crore.

As Per Sources Alcohol and tobacco industries will have to pay more taxes towards an additional ‘sin tax’ under the proposed GST structure that seeks to bring in a uniform indirect tax regime across the country.
‘Sin tax’ is a globally prevalent practice under which products like alcohol and tobacco attract higher rates of tax.
‘sin tax’ is an excise tax that is levied on products and services considered to be bad for health or society such as alcohol, tobacco and gambling. These additional taxes are also seen as efforts to discourage people from use of such products or services.
GST is being seen as one of the biggest tax reforms in the country. While the Constitution Amendment Bill to roll out the law has been passed in Lok Sabha, it is awaiting clearance from the Rajya Sabha where the ruling NDA lacks a majority.
The government is meanwhile undertaking the preparatory work necessary for GST implementation, which will subsume various taxes like excise, service tax, sales tax, octroi, etc, and will ensure a single indirect tax regime.

Kejriwal was in Punjab to visit the families of the two youths who were killed in police firing while protesting against the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib in Faridkot.
During the brief interaction with media, Kejriwal said that he was deeply hurt due to incidents of sacrilege to Sri Guru Granth Sahib and following tension in Punjab and had prayed for the peace at the most sacred place where all wishes are fulfilled by the almighty.
He flayed the incident of opening fire on peaceful protesters by police in Faridkot.“It was unfortunate that two people lost their lives,” he said. He said the state government should not only immediately arrest the anti-social elements who had disrespected Shri Guru Granth Sahib but also give exemplary punishments to them.
“Committing sacrilege to the religious book didn’t benefit anyone,” he said, while adding that no one can live in peace after disrespecting holy scriptures and the people who did this heinous act should also think on it.” When asked about whether he had any apprehensions on the persons arrested for sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib by the Punjab police, Kejriwal said it was up to the state government and police to investigate and arrest the culprits.
.He was accompanied by other AAP leaders including Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann, Punjab State Convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur, Senior advocate HS Phoolka, who had resigned from party posts to devote his time to Sikh Genocide cases, and Delhiiet Sanjay Singh.
