Cabinet approves renaming of Kolkata Port Trust as Syama Prasad Mookerjee Trust
The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has given its approval to rename Kolkata Port as Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port.
The Board of Trustees of Kolkata Port Trust in its Meeting held on 25th February, 2020 has also passed a Resolution to re-name Kolkata Port as Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata considering his multifaceted genius as an eminent jurist, academician, thinker and leader of the masses.
On the occasion of the inaugural ceremony of Sesquicentenary Celebrations of Kolkata Port on 12th January, 2020, keeping in view the sentiments of the people of West Bengal, it was announced that Kolkata Port will be re-named after Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, one of the most deserving sons of West Bengal and a front-runner in national integration, dreamer of Bengal’s development, inspiration for industrialisation and ardent votary of one law for one nation.
[New Delhi]Cabinet Clears Rs 10,000 Crore FAME II Scheme
The Union Cabinet has cleared a Rs 10,000-crore programme under the FAME-II scheme for promotion of electric and hybrid vehicles, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said Thursday.
The Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid) and Electric Vehicles (FAME) scheme with an outlay of Rs 10,000 crore over a period of three years will be implemented with effect from April 1, 2019.
The main objective of the scheme is to encourage faster adoption of electric and hybrid vehicles by way of offering upfront incentive on purchase of electric vehicles and also by way of establishing necessary charging infrastructure for EV, Jaitley told reporters here

प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी की अध्यक्षता में केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने मंत्रिमंडल ने ओडिशा के झरसुगुड़ा हवाई अड्डे का नया नाम ‘वीर सुरेन्द्र साई हवाई अड्डा, झरसुगुड़ा’ करने की स्वीकृति दे दी है।
वीर सुरेन्द्र साई ओडिशा के जाने-माने स्वतंत्रता सेनानी हैं। झरसुगुड़ा हवाई अड्डे को नया नाम देने से ओडिशा सरकार की पुरानी मांग पूरी होगी जो स्थानीय लोगों की भावनाओं के अनुकूल है। यह कदम राज्य से जुड़े सम्मानित लोगों के प्रति उचित श्रद्धांजलि भी होगा।
[New Delhi]Modi Okays Cooperation Between FLETC-USA &BPR&D India on Law Enforcement training
The Indian Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given its approval for signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) between Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC),USA and Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D), India on Law Enforcement Training.
India and United States share common interest to fight terrorism and transnational crimes in all their forms and manifestations and to prevent the continued growth of terrorist organizations. India and US also share a common interest in protecting the homeland and vital infrastructures and in preventing disruption of global supply chain by terrorist attacks.
During the visit of the President of the USA to India in November, 2010, both sides agreed to set up a Homeland Security Dialogue (HSD) mechanism as a sequel to the signing of the India – USA Counter- Terrorism Initiative.
[New Delhi]Govt Relaxes Its Gripes Over Air India:49 % FDI Allowed
Modi government today relaxed FDI norms in various sectors such as single brand retail and allowed foreign airlines to invest up to 49 per cent in Air India. The decision was taken during the Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi . The Cabinet allowed overseas investors to invest 100 per cent FDI (foreign direct investment) in single brand retail trading and construction development without any government approval,
. “Foreign airlines allowed to invest up to 49 per cent under approval route in Air India,” the statement said. As per the policy, foreign airlines are allowed to invest under government approval route in Indian companies operating scheduled and non-scheduled air transport services, up to the limit of 49 per cent of their paid-up capital. However, the provision was not applicable to Air India, thereby implying that foreign airlines could not invest in Air India. “It has now been decided to do away with this restriction and allow foreign airlines to invest up to 49 per cent under approval route in Air India,”

Narendra Modi has approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Canada for cooperation in the field of Science & Technology.
The MoU will provide a mechanism and help to foster scientific cooperation between R&D and academic institutions of India and Canada.
This will help to develop institutional networking and support the establishment of connections between scientific organizations, scientists and specialists of India and Canada.
The MoU was concluded in pursuance to the inter-governmental Agreement for Scientific and Technological Cooperation between the India and Canada concluded in November 2005
