Punjabj Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh Has Accepted Punjab Minister Rana Gurjit’s resignation
CM Accepted this resignation after meeting Cong chief Rahul Gandhi.
Punjab Power and Irrigation Minister Rana Gurjit Singh, accused by the opposition of illegally bagging sand mining contracts, has submitted his resignation to Chief Minister Amarinder Singh,
He has been accused of acquiring sand and gravel mining contracts through “benami transactions in the names of his cook and office staff”.
The government instituted a commission of inquiry headed by Justice J S Narang to look into the charges.
Finance Minister Manpreet Badal Favouring Tainted Minister said “He is being wrongly judged. The Commission of Inquiry headed by Justice Narang, looking into the charges against him, has not held him guilty. That he offered to resign is very honourable. I have never seen a minister resign of his own,”

SAD leader & MP Balwinder Singh Bhundur said now that Rana Gurjit Singh’s complicity in the sand mining scam in which sand mines were allotted to his minions had been proven by his resignation,a criminal case should be registered against him for causing loss to the State exchequer.
He said that All sand mines allocated to Congress legislators should be cancelled immediately. Action should also be taken against ministers who knew about this crime and kept quiet”,
