Congress Leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury Wednesday stood by Rahul Gandhi and said politicians like Gandhi, who stepped down taking moral responsibility for the drubbing, are rare in Indian politics.
Several Congress leaders, both at the state and at the central levels, had criticised Rahul Gandhi for “walking away” from the party president’s post following its massive defeat in the 2019 Lok Sabha poll.
The disgruntled leaders had claimed that Gandhi’s resignation has left both the suppporters and the leaders of the grand old party in the lurch.

The Congress on Saturday demanded immediate dismissal of Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and an FIR against him over the controversial ‘brides from Kashmir’ remark, with party leader Rahul Gandhi claiming his comments reflect what RSS training does to the mind of a “weak, insecure and pathetic man”.
Khattar hit back at Gandhi saying “weak, insecure and pathetic” are adjectives that people use for the Congress president as he accused him of “manufacturing statements”.
“Dear Rahul Gandhi ji, at least at your level, you shouldn’t react on distorted news. I’m attaching the video of what I actually said, and In what context – this will give you clarity of mind,” Khattar said on Twitter and also attached his complete speech to explain the context in which he was speaking.
Gandhi, in a tweet, had earlier said, “Haryana CM, Khattar’s comment on Kashmiri women is despicable and shows what years of RSS training does to the mind of a weak, insecure and pathetic man. Women are not assets to be owned by men.”

The Congress has decided not to send spokespersons for television debates for a month.
The move comes after the party’s debacle in the recently concluded Lok Sabha polls.
The Congress has often accused the media of being “biased” towards the Modi dispensation.
“@INCIndia has decided to not send spokespersons on television debates for a month,” Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala tweeted.
“All media channels/editors are requested to not place Congress representatives on their shows,” he said.
The Congress is currently facing a crisis with party president Rahul Gandhi adamant on his decision to quit after the poll debacle — winning just 52 Lok Sabha seats — and its state governments facing an uncertain future.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday sent his and his party’s best wishes to Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley who has left for the US for a medical check-up following a kidney transplant last year, and wished him a speedy recovery.
“I’m upset to hear Arun Jaitley Ji is not well. We fight him on a daily basis for his ideas. However, I and the Congress party send him our love and best wishes for a speedy recovery. We are with you and your family 100% during this difficult period Mr Jaitley (sic),” Gandhi wrote on Twitter.
Jaitley, 66, who had a kidney transplant operation and follow-up check-ups at AIIMS last year, left for the US on Sunday night for a “regular medical check-up”,
This is Jaitley’s first overseas visit since his kidney ailment was confirmed in April last year.
