Whereas AIADMK MP alleges she was slapped by a “leader” and now facing Life threat in TN
AIADMK MP Sasikala Pushpa, who reportedly slapped DMK lawmaker Trichy Siva at IGI airport on Saturday, today claimed she was slapped by a “leader” and faced threat to life in Tamil Nadu, alleging she was being forced to quit Rajya Sabha.
Pushpa first rushed into the Well of the House to get permission to make her statement and then broke down several times as she said she faced “life threat” from state government
She however did not make it clear who slapped her and when.
A report later said she was expelled from the party by AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa for “anti-party activities”.
Raising the issue, she said “If an MP is being slapped by a leader, where is human dignity,” provoking strong protest from members of her own party AIADMK.
As she found support in opposition members who wanted the chair to allow her to make her full submission, A Navaneethakrishnan (AIADMK) walked into the well and out of it multiple times demanding that her remarks be expunged.
“I want to serve the country (and not resign),” she said.
“I am not here in Rajya Sabha for any benefit.”

AIADMK General Secretary and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today turned 68,
Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted on her birthday.
Modi wished Jayalalithaa over phone and the latter thanked the Prime Minister for his greetings, an official release said.
Modi Tweeted
“Birthday wishes to Jayalalithaa ji. May Almighty bless her with a long life, filled with good health”.
Party workers across the state celebrated the birthday of ‘Amma’ with fervour.
Songs from films featuring AIADMK founder M G Ramachandran and Jayalalithaa, both yesteryear stars, were being played out even as distribution of welfare measures and special prayers marked the occasion.
A massive sapling plantation drive would be taken up in 6,868 temples across the state by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department besides other programmes.

AIADMK has 37 members in the Lok Sabha and 11 in the Upper House.
In a significant gesture seen in the the backdrop of the NDA’s push to garner support for its key economic reforms bills in Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today called on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa at her Poes Garden residence.
Though Jayalalithaa was not present during the launch of the National Handloom Day celebrations at the University of Madras here, state Finance Minister O Panneerselvam read out her speech that warmly welcomed Modi.
Earlier in day, Jayalalithaa had welcomed Modi at the airport.
During his address, the Prime Minister also thanked “Dr Jayalalithaa”, the state government and the people of Tamil Nadu for successfully organising the event.
From the function venue, the Prime Minister drove straight to the Chief Minister’s residence. She warmly welcomed him at the doorstep.
During the discussions, she is understood to have taken up issues concerning Tamil Nadu including inter-state river disputes with Karnataka and Kerala and presented a memorandum.
The meeting assumes significance in the wake of AIADMK’s broad support to the Modi government on the NDA’s controversial Land Acquisition Bill in the Lok Sabha although Jayalalithaa had raised some reservations on it citing farmers’ concerns ahead of its passage in the Rajya Sabha.
