The Punjab Government is in the process to fill more than 1200 permanent posts of Patwaris but till then Revenue Department has decided to recruit retired Patwaris on contractual basis.
The Revenue Patwar Union Punjab met Revenue Minister Bikarm Singh Majithia few days back and requested him to make an alternative adjustment till the permanent recruitment process of Patwaris is not completed keeping in view the Public interests.
Majithia said that Punjab Chief Minister S. Parkash Singh took an initiative to fill all the vacant posts of Patwaris. He said that recruitment process was almost completed by the Punjab University for this but due to the reports of paper leakage the recruitment was cancelled.
Majithia said that Punjab Government is committed for the fair and transparent selection therefore now the Guru Nanak Dev University has been assigned to conduct a test on behalf of Punjab Revenue department. He said that it may take some time to complete the permanent recruitment process but the revenue department has decided to make alternative arrangements to provide timely and hassle free revenue services to the people.
Financial Commissioner Revenue Mr.KBS Sidhu disclosing the conditions for the recruitment of Patwaris on contractual basis said that Revenue department will recruit Patwaris on contract basis who are between the age of 60-65 years.
He said that Deputy Commissioners have been authorized to recruit the patwaris on contractual basis. He said that application shall be permitted only in the district from which Patwari/Kanungo had retired.
He further said that that the deputy commissioners have been asked to consider the applications and make recruitment without any delay without waiting for any last date.
In a separate Order 5 Tehsildars are also transferred with immediate effect.

. Surjit Kumar Jayani health and Family Welfare Minister Punjab said that there was no shortage of medicines especially the life-saving drugs and injections in the government hospitals.
The Minister denied that there was any scarcity of Injection Mannitol in the government hospitals, as reported.
He said that which this being a life-saving drug, mainly used for head injury patients but its consumption is less.
He clarified that the Punjab government has adequate stock of the injection and state has already has a Sale Contractor for this medicine.
Minister has directed the Director Health Dr. H.S.Bali to allot the district wise work to ensure proper upkeep of the government health institutions and keep a close watch on the hygienic conditions besides ensuring the availability of all the essential drugs.
Minister warned that those who defy the directive would be punished.
He said the government was committed to provide cheap medical treatment.
The Minister also said that the government was already in the process of breaking the nexus of drug manufacturers, doctors and private chemists, wherein doctors prescribed particular branded medicines in lieu of freebies offered by pharmaceutical firms.

The Education Department, Punjab, today saw the appointment letters being handed over to the 569 lecturers out of 620 newly recruited Lecturers. The Education Minister, , Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema also allotted choice stations along with appointment letters to these newly recruited lecturers.
The Education Minister Dr. Cheema earlier in his address said that they constitute the lucky ones and the most capable teachers who have been selected after going through two separate examination procedures.
Congratulating them on joining the department,
The Minister said that the department is making recruitment of 16000 E.T.T./Teachers/Masters/Lecturers,He also informed that the appointment letters to the 4500 E.T.T. Teachers would be given soon and the examination regarding the 6000 recruitment to the Master Cadre in respect of various subjects would be held at the end of this month.
Earlier, Mr. Balbir Singh Dhol, DPI (SE) said that the newly recruited lecturers were called as per the merit list and vacant stations were displayed before them. He said that the lecturers were allotted the stations as per their preference. He said that today

89 of History,
63 of Math,
43 of English,
55 of Punjabi,
26 of Biology,
10 of Chemistry,
9 of Commerce,
15 of Physics and
5 lecturers of Hindi subject
were handed over the recruitment as well as allotment letters.

The Punjab Child Rights Commission has ordered a complete ban on the junk food served in schools and also constituted various committees to keep monitoring the prohibition all across the state.
Giving details about the idea of imposing prohibition, Mr. Sukesh Kalia Chairman Punjab Child Rights Commission said that it was a matter of worry and he expressed concern over the deterioration in the health of schools children especially with consuming unhealthy and unhygienic junk food.
Such type of food was a direct threat to health of the children who were heading towards hypertension, diabetes, obesity and mental stress. These diseases and childhood obesity have been reportedly found to affect the cognitive and physical development of children adversely, causing an irreparable loss to the society.
The Chairman also said that the Child Rights Commission has taken the cognizance of this matter under section 13(1) (f) and (k) of CPCR Act 2005.
,Mr. Kalia also said that for the forceful implementation of the guidelines of the Food Safety and Standard Authority of India, the Commission has constituted state level committees to keep a close surveillance on the schools providing food to children and initiate action against those defying the government directive.

Talking to media, Party’s senior spokesman Anand Sharma dismissed suggestions that the Congress buckled under pressure to replace him and insisted that the “dishonest, perverse, and mischievous” narrative by opposition against him was done with an eye on elections.
Replying to questions, he, however, made it clear that Kamal Nath continues to be the AICC General Secretary in charge of Haryana.
On Sunday, he was appointed to the post and given charge of both Punjab and Haryana.
Punjab goes to polls next year.
Reports earlier quoting party’s chief spokesman Randeep Surjewala had it that Nath had resigned as General Secretary of the AICC.
Asked about the AAP’s charges against Nath, Sharma said AAP has “no credibility and has an opportunistic agenda” and was targeting the Congress leader with an eye on polls…
“The demand to reopen cases is ridiculous because there is no case ever.
You cannot reopen which does not exist”, he said when asked about the AAP demand.
Claiming that Kamal Nath is the senior-most member of the Lok Sabha, who has also been party General Secretary and Union Minister, Sharma said that he decided to quit “out of his anguish” after being “condemned day in and day out despite being not guilty”.

Education Minister, Punjab, Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema took up the issue of non-issuance of visas to students passing 10+2 examination from Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) with Australian High Commission which have finally borne fruit. After media reports regarding refusal by Australian authorities of visas to students passing 10+2 from PSEB, Dr. Cheema took strong notice of the issue and plunged headlong to resolve it successfully. The Australian Government has also clarified that A Visa Application has not and will not be refused on the basis of a qualification from PSEB.
