[New Delhi] Smuggled Gold @ Rs 2.5 Crore seized at IGI Airport:Customs Claims It Biggest Seizures
In one of the biggest seizures, customs officials today seized about 10 kg of gold worth over Rs 2.5 crore being smuggled into the country at India Gandhi International Airport (IGIA)
Two people, including a Chartered Accountant, have been arrested in three cases of gold smuggling.
[1]In the first incident, customs officials recovered over four kg of gold from a dustbin kept in the toilet of a Qatar airways plane.
“The flight arrived early morning today from Doha and while rummaging of the aircraft, 4.2 kg of unclaimed gold was recovered,” said Vinayak Azaad, Additional Commissioner of Customs at the airport.
The recovered gold is in form of 36 gold bars and valued at about Rs 1.09 crore,
[2]In another case, two Delhi-based persons – a Chartered Accountant and a lawyer, were intercepted by the Customs after their arrival from Dubai.
They were carrying gold 2.635 kg and 740 gm respectively, hidden in rods and couplings of trolley bags,
As per Authorities “The CA had taken a loan of Rs 1.5 cr from a bank, out of which, he spent Rs 60 lakh for gold smuggling,” .
In third instance, a Turkish passenger has been arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle in 2.6 kg of gold.
He had arrived from Istanbul and hid gold in belt buckles and wheels of trolley bag,
In all these cases, about 10 kg of gold worth Rs 2.64 crore has been seized.
It is one of the bigeest seizures of the yellow metal in recent times.
Turkish passenger and the CA have been arrested while the customs authorities are trying to find out the owner of the gold recovered from the Qatar airways plane.

Airport officials today seized gold biscuits worth about Rs 3.05 crore from passengers in two separate incidents,
[1] four persons, who arrived here from Saudi Arabia, were arrested for trying to smuggle gold biscuits worth Rs 1.35 crore.
[2]Gold biscuits worth about Rs 1.70 crore were seized from a passenger who arrived from Singapore.

Because of the nervous behaviour and suspicious nature of the passenger, the officers conducted a detailed personal search during which they recovered gold bars weighing 3 kgs concealed in the shoes worn by him
The total value of gold bars seized is around Rs 75 lakhs.

In the second incident, a passenger, who arrived from Kuala Lumpur by an Air India Express flight, was found carrying one kg gold concealed in his rectum.

प्राप्त जानकारी के अनुसार मिजोरम[लुन्ग्लई] के दो शहरियों द्वारा ११५ किलोग्राम प्रतिबंधित ड्रग्स को म्यांमार ले जाने वाले थे|बताया जा रहा है कि आई जी आई एअरपोर्ट से प्राईवेट एयर लाइन्स स्पाइस जेट के प्लेन से गुवाहाटी ड्रग्स ले जी जाने वाली थे वहां से म्यांमार भेजी जानी थी|इसके अलावा इसी एअरपोर्ट के एक टायलेट से सफाई कर्मी[हाऊस कीपर]को एक अनक्लेम्ड पैकेट मिला जिसमे ७oo ग्राम के वजन वाले सोने के बिस्कुट मिले हैं|इसके मालिक के विषय में कोई जानकारी नहीं है|इस पैकेट को सी आई एस ऍफ़ के अधिकारियों द्वारा खुलवाया गया|
अति सुरक्षित और विश्व प्रसिद्द कहे जाने वाले आई जी आई एयर पोर्ट की ये दोनों घटनाएँ चौंकाने वाली है|
[१]बताया जा रहा है कि ड्रग्स स्मगलिंग के लिए स्मगलरों द्वारा प्राईवेट एयर लाइन्स का,[विशेष कर नार्थ ईस्ट ] इस्तेमाल किया जा रहा है| इस केस में स्पाईस जेट का नाम आया है तो इससे पूर्व सीमा पर तस्करी के लिए इंडिगो एयर लाइन्स के एक अधिकारी का नाम आ चुका है|इंडिगो एयर लाइन्स के केस में की गई कार्यवाही को अभी उजागर नहीं किया गया है| इसी बीच अब ये दूसरा केस सामने आ गया है|यह अपने आप में चिंता का विषय है|और डी जी सी ऐ की कार्यप्रणाली पर प्रश्न चिन्ह लगाता है|

आतंक वादियों की लगातार धमकियों के चलते सुरक्षा को मजबूत करने के आये दिन दावे किये जा रहे हैं मगर एयर लाइन्स के दुरूपयोग और अंजान पैकेट को टायलेट में छोडने से असामाजिक तत्वों के हौंसले साफ़ दिखाई दे रहे हैं|इनके प्रति इस प्रकार की लापरवाही जांच का विषय होने चाहिए |
