Customs officials today seized around 1.4 kg of gold bar worth Rs 37.5 lakh from a SpiceJet aircraft arriving from Bangkok at the international airport
The gold bars were hidden inside the cushion of seat no, 20-F, customs officials of the NSCB International Airport said.
The gold was found during cleaning of the aircraft after the passengers disembarked.
Investigation is on into the incident, Smuggled Gold .In The Early week 4 gold bars worth 15.8 Lakhs were also seized from a passenger of Bangkok-Kol flight

So Agitated Passengers Are Lodging Complaints
Recently a Passenger of a Delhi-Kolkata Air India flight on 31 October alleged that they found their luggage tampered with after landing at Kolkata.
The passengers, who protested in the Kolkata airport , also alleged that they had to wait for a long time to get their luggage.
Some passengers claimed that locks of their luggages were found broken when they get it.
An Air India official, however,denied, as usual,that passengers bags were tampered with.
But he admitted that luggages reached late due to a technical fault in the conveyor belt on which luggages were delivered to passengers.
As per Air India Officials The conveyor belts are maintained by the airport authorities and not the airlines,

[Kolkata]Gold Worth Rs One Crores Smuggled In Thai Airways seized
A gold bar valued at Rs 1.1 crore was recovered from the toilet of a Thai Airways plane which arrived here from Bangkok this morning.
The gold bar, weighing four kg and wrapped with paper, was stuck in a waste bin with adhesives,
In another case, Ashok Adhikari of Nepal was intercepted on his arrival from Bangkok yesterday and three kg of gold valued at Rs 81.6 lakh was recovered from his possession.
The gold was concealed in a waist band worn by the person and he has been arrested, they said.

Civil Aviation Minister Mahesh Sharma directed to provide all basic facilities to the passengers At Kolkata Airport
The minister also took a round of the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International airport to take stock of the passenger amenities including the upkeep of toilets among others, an official release said today.
This Airport is in the process of privatisation.
The airport handles 120 domestic and international flights per day and despite all odds has generated a surplus of Rs 326 crore in the last five years,
The Minister asked the authorities to ensure basic facilities for tourists at the Airport.

नेताजी सुभाष चंद्र [एनएससी] बोस अंतरराष्ट्रीय हवाईअड्डा के घरेलु उड़ान वाले टर्मिनल के इंटीग्रेटेड कार्गो परिसर में बीती शाम हल्की आग लग गई।
हवाईअड्डे के एक अधिकारी के अनुसार शाम सात बजकर 20 मिनट के करीब परिसर में धुंआ उठता हुआ देखा गया जिसके कारण स्थिति तनावपूर्ण हो गई लेकिन अगले पांच मिनट में ही आगपर काबू पा लिया गया |जब शाम पौने सात बजे के करीब दमकल विभाग के कर्मचारी टर्मिनल की इमारत में पहुंचे तो उन्हें कुछ विशेष करना नहीं पड़ा।

ACI Declares Kolkata Airport Best Improved Airport in Asia Pacific Region

Airport Council International (ACI) Announced Service Quality Award For Kolkata Airport
Kolkata Airport has won the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Award by Airport Council International (ACI) in the category of the best improved airport in Asia Pacific Region.
This category includes airports which have experienced the biggest improvement in ASQ rating between 2012 and 2013 in their region.
The ASQ Awards are presented in four categories:[1] best airport by region,[2] best airport by size,[3] best small airport [4]best improvement.
The award was received by Dr. B.P. Sharma, Airport Director, Kolkata at the 9th ACI Asia Pacific Regional Assembly meeting in Seoul, Korea. He handed over the award to Shri Alok Sinha, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation and Chairman, Airports Authority of India (AAI) in the presence of Shri G.K. Chaukiyal, Member (Operations) in New Delhi.
Airport Service Quality survey is conducted at 11 major airports of AAI by Airport Council International including Ahmedabad, Calicut, Chennai, Goa, Guwahati, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Pune, Srinagar, Trivandrum. In respect of customer satisfaction airports managed by AAI scored an average ASQ rating of 4.14 which is above world average of 4.04 between 1st January and 31st March, this year.
