Punjab government employees on Saturday suspended their agitation after they were assured by a minister that some of their demands will be met
Under the banner of the Punjab State Ministerial Services Union, they had gone on mass casual leave on August 19.
They had observed a pen-down strike from August 6 to 14 too.
We have decided to suspend our agitation from Saturday, union president Megh Singh said, adding that Cabinet Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa on Friday assured them that some of their demands will be met.
Notifications for these demands are expected to be issued on Monday, said Singh.
On reduction in their mobile allowance, Singh said a meeting will be held with state government representatives on Wednesday.
Employees have also been seeking the rollback of the decision due to which new recruits will be paid on a par with the central scale.
They have also been protesting the restructuring of departments and demanded the release of pending instalments of dearness allowance, arrears, implementation of the sixth pay commission recommendations and restoration of the old pension scheme.
On August 19, Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal had urged them to withdraw their agitation to help the state government in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kangar had hoisted the national flag in Mansa during Independence Day celebrations on Saturday.
Kangar is the second minister from the state to have contracted coronavirus. Earlier, Cabinet Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa had tested positive for the infection.

Punjab cabinet minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Tuesday, the first minister in the state to contract the infection, a health official said.
The Rural Development and Panchayats minister had undergone a COVID-19 last Friday after his department’s director tested positive for the disease.
The samples of Bajwa, who is also the higher education minister, were collected for the second time after the first report had come negative on Saturday.
“He (Bajwa) has tested positive for coronavirus,” Health Department Director Avneet Kaur said here. “His samples were collected again on Tuesday and his report confirmed him to be positive.

पुलिस की वर्दी में सहायक उप निरीक्षक (एएसआई) पलविंदर सिंह कल मंत्री के आवास पर पहुंचे और उनसे कुछ मदद मांगते हुये उनका पांव छू लिया।
इस पर बाजवा ने बार्डर रेंज के महानिरीक्षक एसपीएस परमार को फोन कर एएसआई को निलंबित करने के लिए कहा ।
पलविंदर को तत्काल उसके मोबाइल फोन पर निलंबन का आदेश मिला और उसे तत्काल प्रभाव से पुलिस लाइन भेज दिया गया।

Chief Minister Amarinder Singh said the state government would soon convene an all-party meeting to deliberate on ways to check the menace of noise pollution caused by loudspeakers and public address system.
The chief minister said the issue was a matter of grave public concern and warranted a serious discussion.
Expressing concern over the implications of noise pollution, the chief minister said the norms on the issue were being flouted blatantly, especially in the case of DJs at social functions, which result in inconvenience and disturbance to students.
This issue was raised by Aam Aadmi Party MLA Aman Arora in the Assembly
The chief minister had earlier authorised Rural Development and Panchayats Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa to reply on the call attention on noise pollution.
