Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways and MSMEs Nitin Gadkari today announced the development of a new Greenfield connectivity to Amritsar City from Nakodar via Sultanpur Lodhi, Goindwal Sahib, Khadoor Sahib as part of Delhi-Amritsar Expressway. He said, the road from Amritsar to Gurdaspur would also be fully developed and made completely signal free. With this, traffic would have option to travel to Gurdaspur onwards from Nakodar, i.e. via Amritsar or via Kartarpur. The Minister said, this greenfield alignment will not only provide shortest and alternate express connectivity to Amritsar city but also to other religious centres of Sultanpur Lodhi, Goindwal Sahib, Khadoor Sahib as well as the recently developed Dera Baba Nanak/Kartarpur Sahib International Corridor in Punjab.
Gadkari informed that with this expressway, travel time from Amritsar to Delhi International airport would reduce to about four hours from the present about eight hours. He said, this would fulfil one of long standing demands of the people of Punjab. The first phase of expressway would involve investment of about Rs 25,000 crore.
Ministry of Road Transport & Highways have taken up development of Delhi Amritsar Katra Expressway under Bharatmala Pariyojana. The alignment of expressway was firmed up in January 2019 and process of land acquisition was initiated. Recently, the issue of alignment of Expressway to Amritsar has been taken up by the Minister of Food Processing Industries Smt. Harsimrat Kaur Badal, and the Minister of State (I/C) Civil Aviation, Housing & Urban Affairs Shri Hardeep Singh Puri with the Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari. The issue was also raised by Shwait Malik, MP (Rajya Sabha), Gurjit Singh Aujla, MP (Lok Sabha), Govt. of Punjab, Sikh organisations and other public representatives.
It is reiterated that Amritsar city was always an integral part of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway. From beginning Expressway was proposed as combination of Greenfield and Brownfield alignment in two phases.
Gadkari also requested Govt. of Punjab to provide requisite support to NHAI to expedite Land acquisition for proposed expressway in the State of Punjab.

Akshay said, he feels proud to join the government’s efforts to make Indian roads safe, and is participating in road safety campaign for the betterment of the society.

NHAI to Deploy Women Staff on Toll Plazas On 8th March

The National Highways Authority of India has decided to deploy all women toll collecting staff in day shift on at least one toll plaza close to the city area, in every state and UT of the country on 8th March 2018, International Women’s Day. If this initiative is successful, then it will be implemented across all toll plazas under operation by NHAI within the next 3 months.

प्रदूषण नियंत्रण और सड़क सुरक्षा के लिए डेढ़दशक पुराने वाहनों की नियमित जाँच आवश्यक है
सड़क परिवहन और राजमार्ग मंत्रालय ने भी 15 वर्ष से अधिक पुराने वाहनों की नियमित जाँच को जायज ठहराया है|
सड़क परिवहन और राजमार्ग मंत्रालय ने पुराने वाहनों पर प्रतिबंध लगाने के राष्‍ट्रीय हरित ट्राइब्‍यूनल के आदेश की जांच की है और मंत्रालय की राय है कि मोटर वाहन अधिनियम 1988 की धारा 56 के अंतर्गत वाहन फिटनेस प्रमाण पत्र को नियमित जांच के जरिये लागू किया जाना चाहिए। इससे न केवल प्रदूषण में कमी आयेगी अपितु सड़क सुरक्षा परिदृश्‍य में सुधार भी होगा।
वर्तमान में मंत्रालय का निजी वाहनों की आयु सीमा के बारे में निर्णय लेने का कोई प्रस्‍ताव नहीं है क्‍योंकि यह अल्‍पकालिक दृष्टिकोण होगा और वाहनों की फिटनेस परीक्षण से ही सिद्ध होगा कि क्‍या वाहनों की आयु समाप्‍त हो गई है या नहीं।
सड़क परिवहन और राजमार्ग मंत्रालय में राज्‍य मंत्री पी राधाकृष्‍णन ने लोकसभा में लिखित उत्‍तर में बताया के यद्यपि केंद्रीय मोटर वाहन नियमों 1989 के नियम-88 के उपनियम 1-4 में प्रावधान है कि 12 वर्ष से पुराने मल्‍टी एक्‍सल वाहन को छोड़कर किसी गुड्स केरिज को राष्‍ट्रीय परमिट न दिया जाये। ऐसा ही प्रावधान 15 वर्ष से पुराने मल्‍टी एक्‍सल गुड्स केरिज के लिए और 25 वर्ष से अधिक पुराने और मल्‍टी एक्‍सल ट्रेलर के लिए भी है जिसके लिए 50 टन से अधिक वज़न ले जाने की अनुमति मिली हो। नियम-82 में भी प्रावधान है कि टूरिस्‍ट परमिट उस समय अवैध हो जायेगा जब वाहन, मोटर कैब होगा और इसका परमिट 9 वर्ष पूरे कर लेगा तथा मोटर कैब के बारे में 8 वर्ष पूरे कर लेगा और जब मोटर वाहन मोटर कैब नहीं होगा तो 8 साल पूरे कर लेगा मगर मोटर वाहन बदल लेने पर ऐसा नहीं होगा। मोटर वाहन अधिनियम 1988 की धारा 41 (7) में प्रावधान है कि जो मोटर वाहन परिवहन वाहन नहीं होगा उसका पंजीकरण प्रमाण पत्र 15 वर्ष की अवधि के लिए वैध रहेगा।

The government Of India today, Declared that it will introduce Motor Vehicles Amendment Bill in the next session of Parliament .
This is to end malpractices in Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) across the country.
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said that the Amendment Bill is being made, based on the best practices of developed countries like USA+Canada+Singapore+Japan+Germany + UK.
He said, the Motor Vehicles Act has become obsolete and it needs to be changed for ending corruption in RTO offices.
He said, the transport department will be linked to e-governance for bringing total transparency and easy and hassle-free services to the people.
Addressing the Indian Road Congress meeting, Shri Gadkari said that he had committed to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi that Road Transport, Shipping and Inland Waterways will yield 2% extra to the GDP of the country
. He said that the Highways sector is passing through a bad phase and 19 out of 51 road projects had to be dropped for different reasons. He also lamented that not a single kilometre of highway network could be added in the month of July and pulled up officials and other stake holders to speed up the process to achieve the target of building 30 kms of highways per day in the next two years. Admitting that impediments like land acquisition bill+environmental clearances + Defence +Railways land had stalled many projects, the Minister informed that upto 80 % of the projects stuck for environment and forest clearances have been solved and land acquisition process and clearances from Railways and Defence are being expedited.
Minister urged the Indian Roads Congress to concentrate on Research and Development and Designing as per the global standards. He said, this is the right time for the road sector and there will be no dearth of resources including foreign funding but all should focus on time-bound completion of projects.
