Google has removed the anti-India mobile app ‘2020 Sikh Referendum’ from its Play Store after the Punjab government took up the matter with the IT giant
The app is not available anymore on Google Play Store for mobile phone users in India,
Sikhs for Justice , a group based abroad and banned by India, has been lobbying for Punjab’s secession through its 2020 Sikh Referendum campaign.
Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has accused Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence of being involved in the campaign.
The app asked mobile users to register themselves, in an apparent attempt to show support for secession. A government statement said a website, “yes2khalistan , was also launched for the same purpose.
An analysis of the app and the website at Punjab’s DITAC Lab found that the data of people who register was stored in the server of the website created by the banned Sikhs for Justice ,

Stubble-burning is choking Delhi and other areas in northern India, farm fires continue around Punjab villages Even just 20 km from the state capital Chandigarh Villagers says they are helpless, citing the cost of equipment meant to tackle crop residue without burning it.
Last year 28000 machines were given out.which has been reduced to 20,000 pieces of farm equipment this year under a centrally sponsored scheme to promote mechanisation.
According to official data, Punjab has witnessed over 22,000 incidents of stubble burning so far this year.

PUDA and other special development authorities (GMADA, PDA, GLADA, ADA, JDA & BDA) put up various properties situated across the state on e-auction from 9.00 AM on November 1, 2019.
While the e-auction of properties offered by Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority, Bathinda Development Authority, Jalandhar Development Authority and Amritsar Development Authority would conclude on November 11, 2019 and the auction of properties offered by Greater Mohali Area Development Authority and Patiala Development Authority would close on November 14, 2019.
Big chunks being offered in the auction and those falling under jurisdiction of GMADA include two hotel sites located in IT City, Sector 66-B, a petrol pump site of Medicity, New Chandigarh, a group housing site at IT City, Sector 66-B, a nursing home /dispensary site in Sector 89 and a commercial chunk of Sector 68, SAS Nagar.
Jalandhar Development Authority has decided to auction a hospital site located at Basti Sheikh, Jalandhar & a hotel site situated at chotti Baradari, Jalandhar. Amritsar Development Authority is auctioning a commercial chunk located in New Urban Estate, Batala.
Besides above properties, commercial sites (booths, SCO, SSS, SCF, shop sites, double storey shops) and residential plots located in different cities viz. Mohali, Patiala, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Bathinda, Amritsar, Phillaur, Malout, Rajpura, Sangrur, Gurdaspur, Batala, Nabha & Amargarh would also be available in the e-auction.

(Chd,Pb) Capt Demands Funds on Tourism Day For Swadesh Darshan Scheme Punjab Chief Minister of Punjab Capt Amarinder Singh has sought immediate release, from the central government, of the first tranche of the funds for the projects approved under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme a year ago.
Seeking the release of the first instalment of 30% of the total of Rs. 99.95 Crores worth of the state projects, approved under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme, the Chief Minister pointed out that these projects were approved back in September 2018.
Development of Hussainiwala Border area and Saragarhi Memorial in Ferozepur, were part of these.

The Punjab government will take the technical support of the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank to canalise all rivers in the state.
Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh announced this after taking stock of flood-hit area in Sultanpur Lodhi,
In Sarupwal of Sultanpur Lodhi, where the overflowing Sutlej led to a breach in the embankment, affecting 62 villages, the Chief Minister promised due compensation to the affected farmers as soon as the water receded and a special ‘girdawri’ (crop loss assessment) was completed.
The chief minister told mediapersons in Jalandhar district that even if the Union government failed to extend its support, the state government would ensure full assistance to the affected people.
The state government had sought a Rs 1,000-crore special package from the Centre.
The CM also inspected the breach in Gidderpindi of Jalandhar, resulting from the release of excess water from the Bhakra dam.
For the first time, the Bhakra, which normally filled to its permissible storage level of 1,680 feet by September, was overflowing in August, said the CM.

On June 6, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh had divested Sidhu of the Local Government and Tourism and Cultural Affairs Departments and allotted him the power and new and renewable energy portfolio.
In an apparent snub, Sidhu was also left out of the consultative groups formed by the chief minister on June 8, two days after the cabinet reshuffle, to accelerate the implementation of the government’s flagship programmes.
Over a month after he was stripped of key portfolios, Sidhu had not taken charge of his new assignment, as a stalemate with the chief minister had continued
