(Chd,Pb)SAD to Jaam “Chakka” in Pb on Sep 25 Against Farm Bill
The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), the BJP’s oldest ally, on Tuesday announced road blockades across Punjab on September 25 to protest against the contentious farm Bills passed by Parliament.
Rajya Sabha passed the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, 2020 during the day. It had cleared the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020 and the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020 on Sunday.
The Bills had been passed by Lok Sabha last week.
As per SAD leader Daljit Singh Cheema
SAD party’s senior leaders, workers, farmers and farm labourers would block roads in the state for three hours from 11 am in a peaceful manner.
Notably, around 30 farmers’ outfits have already given a call for a complete shutdown in Punjab on September 25 in protest against the Bills.
Party chief Sukhbir Singh Badal would launch a four-day state-wide mass contact programme on September 26 during which he would make party workers aware about the “adverse impact” of these Bills on the farming community,
Last week, SAD leader and Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal had resigned from the Union Cabinet in protest against the Bills.

Punjab finance minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa on Friday resigned from the post of the leader of the SAD legislative party.
Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa had opened a front against the party leadership, especially its chief Sukhbir Singh Badal, in a bid to “liberate” the SAD from the Badal family and “revive its lost glory”.
Former minister and current Sahnewal MLA Sharanjit Singh Dhillon will now be the new leader of the SAD legislative party in the state assembly, said Sukhbir Singh Badal in a statement here.
Badal accepted the one-line resignation of Dhindsa, a two-time finance minister, on Friday.
Parminder Singh Dhindsa, who is an MLA from Lehra, had gone incommunicado after his father aligned with SAD (Taksali) leaders.

The SAD had contested the 2019 Haryana Assembly polls in alliance with Indian National Lok Dal (#INLD), although Badal’s party was is in alliance with BJP in Punjab and a partner of NDA at the Centre.
SAD contested three seats and failed to open its account while its ally INLD could retain the Ellenabad seat from where Abhay Singh Chautala won.
Badal, apparently played a crucial role in bringing together the JJP and the BJP to form a government in Haryana,
He said the saffron party is “in favour of communal harmony and peace” in the country.
Badal also said the former deputy prime minister Devi Lal, the great-grandfather of Dushyant Chautala, was his “closest friend and sympathiser”.
“Today I am happy that Devi Lal’s grandson (Dushyant) became the deputy chief minister of Haryana,” he said.
[Chd,Pb]Capt Amarinder Govt ‘Reneged’ on Poll Promises: SAD
Amarinder Singh-led Congress government completing its two-year tenure
“The Congress government has cheated and betrayed the trust of the people of Punjab by reneging on each and every promise made to farmers, khet mazdoor, youth, dalits, industry and government employees during the last two years,” senior SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia said while addressing media on the occasion of completion of two-year tenure of the Congress government.
“The government was characterised by repression, corruption, misgovernance, hypertaxation and non-performance,” he alleged.
“If there is one thing, the Congress government has delivered upon it is the politicisation of the probe into the Kotkapura and Behbalkalan incidents by first forming the Ranjit Singh Commission and now SIT which is controlled by the Congress party. All serious issues like forming a Lokpal, tabling assets of officers and providing legal aid to SC and BCs have been put on the back-burner,” the former Akali minister alleged.
Marking completion of two years of the Congress government as ‘Vishvasghat Divas’ (betrayal day) Saturday, Majithia accused the party of not only “failing” Punjabis, but also causing “untold misery and hardship” to the people by denying them social welfare benefits like Shagun scheme, old age pension, scholarships, mid-day meals.
“Never before in the history of the state has any government performed so poorly on all fronts. It seems there is no government in Punjab,” he claimed.
He charged the government with indulging in a public relations exercise to hide its “utter failure”.
“The first and foremost failure of the government was its inability to implement the Rs 90,000 crore complete loan waiver promise made by Amarinder. This failure resulted in an increase in farm suicides which crossed the 900 mark,” Majithia alleged.
The farm sector had suffered the most in the Congress rule with sugarcane farmers not being given their dues, which had accumulated to Rs 900 crore again, he alleged.
Stating that an entire generation of youth had been “betrayed” by the Congress government, Majithia said the youth were promised jobs in each household under the ‘Ghar Ghar Naukri’ scheme.
“What they got was fake job melas. Even Rs 2,500 per month unemployment allowance has not been given to anyone. In fact the government has played a cruel joke on youth by registering only 150 unemployed youth,” he alleged.
The workers of both the Shiromani Akali Dal and the Bharatiya Janata Party organised roadshows and ‘dharnas’ in all the assembly constituencies of the state Saturday, as per the party release.
The demonstrations were held in Amritsar, Bathinda, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala , Mohali and Gurdaspur.

[New Delhi]Akalis Attacks Cong Raising Tytler’s Sting on Sikh Massacre
100 Sikhs Killing in the 1984 today figured in the Rajya Sabha
Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa (SAD), notice under Rule 267 was converted into a zero hour submission by Chairman M Venkiah Naidu .
Though Dhindsa also named another Congress leader, Naidu ruled that no names would go on record.
Dhindsa asked who were Tytler’s accomplices as one person could not have killed 100 persons.
Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) president Manjit Singh GK had on Monday released a video of a purported sting operation recorded in 2011, which he said was received by him from an unknown man on February 3.
Dhindsa said the accused in the sting claims that no action was taken against him except a sham enquiry.
Congress leader Anand Sharma said rules of the House do not allow any matter which is sub-judice to be discussed.
The House cannot be converted into a trial court, he said.
Naidu said the SAD member and some others had met him and showed him the CD of the purported sting operation.
The chairman said he asked the MP to authenticate and now he was willing to do so and place it on the table of the House.
