Cabinet condoles death of former President Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam
The Union Cabinet has expressed profound sorrow at the sad demise of former President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. In a resolution passed at a special Cabinet Meeting this morning, it said, “in his passing away the country has lost a visionary scientist, a true nationalist and a great son”. The Cabinet met under the Chairmanship of Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi and extended its heart-felt condolences to the bereaved family on behalf of the Government and the entire nation.
The following is the text of the Resolution:
“Born on 15th October, 1931 at Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu, Dr. Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam, specialized in Aeronautical Engineering from Madras Institute of Technology. Dr. Kalam made significant contribution in developing India’s first indigenous Satellite Launch Vehicle and made India an exclusive member of Space Club. Popularly known as the “Missile Man of India’, Dr. Kalam was responsible for the development and operationalisation of AGNI and PRITHVI Missiles. He gave thrust to self-reliance in defence systems by introducing Light Combat Aircraft.
Dr. Kalam was the Scientific Adviser to Defence Minister and Secretary, Department of Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) during 1992-99. During this period, strategic missile systems were developed and the Pokhran-II nuclear tests were conducted. Dr. Kalam had served as the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, from 1999 to 2001 and was responsible for evolving policies, strategies and missions for many development applications and piloted India Millennium Mission 2020.
In his literary pursuit, Dr. Kalam’s books – “Wings of Fire”, “India 2020 -A Vision for the New Millennium”, “My journey” and “Ignited Minds -Unleashing the power within India” became household names in India and abroad.
Dr. Kalam was passionate about transforming society through technology, in particular by inspiring the youth of India to harness science and technology for human welfare.
Dr. Kalam was the recipient of many national and international awards including honorary doctorates from 48 Universities from India and abroad. He received the country’s highest civilian Award “Bharat Ratna” in the year 1997. Eventually, from a very humble beginning, he rose to the highest office of the Country and served as the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007. During his tenure, he was affectionately known as the People’s President.”

About 25 people have lost their lives in several parts of Darjeeling district in West Bengal.
Prime Minister Of India condoled the loss of lives due to the landslides in Kurseong and Kalimpong areas in Darjeeling district of West Bengal. And Announced compensation for landslide victims
The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has condoled the loss of lives due to the landslides in Kurseong and Kalimpong areas in Darjeeling district of West Bengal. The Prime Minister has announced a compensation of Rs. 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund, to the families of the deceased. This amount will be in addition to the compensation of Rs. 4 lakh to be given from the National Disaster Relief Fund.
The Union Home Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh spoke to the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Ms. Mamta Banerjee and assured all possible assistance from the Centre. He directed the authorities to take up the rescue and relief operations immediately. Two National Disaster Response Force teams have been dispatched for rescue operations.
On the instruction of the Prime Minister, a high level team headed by the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Kiren Rijiju is leaving for Kurseong and Kalimpong to take stock of the situation. Shri Rijiju will be accompanied by the Member of Parliament, Darjeeling, Shri S.S. Ahluwalia and the Deputy Inspector General (Operations), NDRF, Shri S.S. Guleria.

Centre Opened Treasure ,Announced Rs1667Crore More To Flood Effeted J&K

[New Delhi]Centre today Opened Treasure for J&K And Announced Financial Assistance of Rs.1667 Crore To Flood Effected State
Total of Rs.5039 crore has been provided for short term relief / reconstruction measures for this flood affected State of Jammu & Kashmir.
The Union Home Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh announced that an additional amount of Rs. 1667 crore as a part of the short term relief/ reconstruction measures for the state of Jammu and Kashmir in a briefing to the media.
Shri Rajnath Singh mentioned that earlier an amount of Rs. 1602 crore had already been released from National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) for immediate relief to the flood affected families. An amount of Rs. 1000 crore has been released as Additional Special Plan Assistance and Rs. 770 crore sanctioned under the Prime Minister National Relief Fund (PMNRF). Thus, a total of Rs.5039 crore has been provided for short term relief / reconstruction measures for the flood affected State of Jammu & Kashmir.
Shri Rajnath Singh mentioned that the Border Road Organisation has also been given directions to immediately repair the National Highway from Jammu to Srinagar. The Home Minister mentioned that a secure and peaceful environment is critical for all round economic and social development of the State. In the last one year, there has been significant improvement in the security situation in the State. Strict vigil and surveillance by the State Police and Security Forces has led to decline in the level of violence. During the current year, the number of terrorist incidents and infiltration attempts has also come down.
The Union Finance Minister and the Minister for I&B, Shri Arun Jaitley informed that today’s announcement of Rs. 1667 crore includes Rs. 838 crore on account of pending liabilities of the Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Plan 2014, Rs. 551 crore additional ex-gratia relief for repair / reconstruction of damaged kuccha houses, Rs. 172 crore for the tourism sector, Rs. 59 crore as subsidy for providing additional food grains and Rs. 47 crore for repair of damaged roads.
Shri Jaitley provided the details of Rs. 770 crore sanctioned under the Prime Minister National Relief Fund (PMNRF) which includes Rs. 570 crore is for reconstruction/repair of damaged pucca and kuccha houses, Rs. 175 crore for damaged medical equipments and Rs. 25 crore for text books to flood affected school children.
The Finance Minister also disclosed that for the long term rehabilitation package for the State, a team of senior officials of the Government of India including CEO, Niti Ayog and Secretary (Expenditure), Ministry of Finance will be visiting the State soon to assess damage and give suggestions/recommendations for various sectors of the State including Power, Roads, Tourism, Education, Health etc. On the basis of these recommendations a long term rehabilitation package will be worked out.
The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North-Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi visited the State on September 07, 2014 and announced Rs. 1000 crore Central assistance as first installment of relief. The Prime Minister again visited Kashmir on October 23, 2014 on the day of Diwali and announced Rs. 770 crore as additional Special Plan assistance under the PM National Relief Fund, Dr. Jitendra Singh added.
The Finance Minster of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Haseeb Drabu thanked the Centre and mentioned that the required assistance given by the Centre will further help the people of the State.
The Union Home Secretary, Shri L.C. Goyal, the Secretary (Expenditure), Ministry of Finance, Shri Ratan P. Watal and senior officers of Central and State government were present.

[New Delhi] Relief Are On Full Swing :Earth QuakeAn earthquake with an intensity of 7.9 on ritcher scale with epicenter 77 kilometer north-west of Kathmandu has been experienced today. The impact of the earthquake has been felt in almost all northern States in India particularly in Bihar+ Uttar Pradesh+Sikkim+West Bengal. Emergency has been declared in Nepal
. As per the latest information, Provided By Ministry Of Home ,34 deaths have been confirmed so far with
[23] deaths in Bihar,
[8] in Uttar Pradesh and
[ 3] in West Bengal. In order to deal with the situation in the affected States, 5 teams of National Disaster Response Force( NDRF) have already been sent; one team to Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh and one each to Darbhanga, Supaul, Motihari and Gopalganj in Bihar. 3.5 Ton Releaf Material Has Also Been Sent To Nepal By Special Helicopter.
Each team of NDRF consists of 45 personnel who are fully equipped with the modern equipments to deal with search and rescue operations.There are sniffer dogs in these teams.
The National Crisis Management Committee (NCMC) in the Cabinet Secretariat has already met and reviewed the situation through video-conferencing with the Chief Secretaries of affected States. The NCMC will be meeting regularly to take stock of the situation and the relief measures.
Control Rooms 24X7 have been set up both in MHA and NDMA with following number:-011- 2309 3564, 23093566 (MHA Control Room ), 011-26701728, 26701729, 9868881801(M) – (NDMA Control Room) Meanwhile , an inter Governmental coordination cell has been set up in Cabinet Secretariat which will coordinate all relief measures for Nepal as well as for Indian States. This will function on round-the-clock basis and the phone numbers are :- 011- 2301 6633, 2379 2281.
A report by the Seismic Division of the Indian Meteorological Department says major damage is expected in and around the epicentral region. The source region is expected to experience an intensity of IX and above at Modified Mercalli scale(MMI) , which corresponds to considerable damage even in specially designed structures . 14 aftershocks were also reported of much less magnitude till last reports came in Immediately in about ten minutes of occurrence of the quake the Indian Tsunami Early Warning Center (ITEWC) of INCOIS- Indian Nation Center for Ocean Information Services and the IMD also sent alert to all higher authorities of the government indicating the epicenter and the magnitude of the quake

Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board chaired by the Governor, Jammu and Kashmir has issued following Dos and Don’ts for the Yatris:
Dos for the Yatris
1) Do carry sufficient woolen clothing as the temperature can sometimes abruptly fall to below 5 degree Celsius.
2)Do carry umbrella, wind shetter, raincoat, and waterproof shoes as the weather in the Yatra area is unpredictable.
3)Do keep your clothes and eatables in a suitable water proof bag to avoid your belongings getting wet.
4) Do keep in your pocket a note containing the name / address, mobile telephone number of any Yatri proceeding for Darshan on the same date as you are doing, for emergency purposes.
5) Do carry your identity card / driving license and Yatra Permit with you.
6) Do travel in a group along with porters / horses / ponies carrying your luggage.
7) Do ensure that all those comprising the group remain in your sight, lest you are separated from your group.
8) On your journey home, you must leave the Base Camps along with all other members of your group.
9) Do seek immediate assistance of the Police in case any member of your group is missing. Also have an announcement made on the Public Address System at the Yatra Camp.
10)Do help your fellow Yatris travelling with you and perform Yatra with a pious mind.
11)Do strictly follow the instructions issued by the Yatra Administration from time to time.
12)Earth, water, air, fire and sky are integral parts of Lord Shiva. Therefore do respect the environment and do nothing whatsoever to pollute the Yatra area.

The Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh has congratulated the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on the occasion of its 46th Raising Day, .
The Home Minister has attended the function as Chief Guest and inspected the Guard of Honour.
While addressing, Shri Rajnath Singh said that the CISF is a paramilitary force which has maximum public interaction and acts as a public interface. CISF is a dynamic force and also a well diversified force and it should retain its core competence, he added. The Home Minister has advised the CISF that it should carry out special security audits at all important strategic installations every four months to increase its preparedness.
The Union Home Minister said that since India is heading to be an economic superpower, the CISF has to take the responsibility of becoming `Pragati Ke Sajag Prahari`. He expressed his happiness over the CISF providing security consultancy services and said if it is marketed aggressively, CISF can become a big player in this area. The CISF is capable to meet the security challenges and it is ready to become one of the most modern and hi-tech security force of our country, he added.
The Director General, CISF, Shri Arvind Ranjan, Directors General and senior officers of Central Paramilitary Forces were present on the occasion.
An impressive display of Rifle Drill, Fire-fighting and VIP Security were presented.

Union Home Minister Raj Nth Singh, Today, instructed Delhi Police to beef security of churches and other places of worship
A group of leaders from the Christian community in Delhi called on the Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh The group gave a memorandum to H M demanding security for Christians and their places of worship.
The Union Minister Sh Singh instructed the Delhi Police Commissioner to make proper arrangements for the security of churches and all other places of worship. Shri Rajnath Singh also instructed the authorities to conduct impartial inquiry into the recent reports of attacks on churches in Delhi.
The Home Minister assured the visiting group of their full security and said that the government would not tolerate any discrimination on the basis of caste, colour or religion.
It may be added that members of the Christian community today staged a major protest in the city ahead of assembly polls, accusing the government of inaction and wondered why Prime Minister was “silent” on the issue.

केंद्र सरकार ने वर्ष 2015 के लिए पद्म पुरस्‍कारों की घोषणा अभी नहीं की है। इन पुरस्‍कारों की घोषणा प्रति वर्ष गणतंत्र दिवस की पूर्व संध्‍या पर 25 जनवरी को की जाती है।
