अमेरिका के निवर्तमान राष्ट्रपति डोनाल्ड ट्रंप के हजारों समर्थक कैपिटल परिसर में घुस गए और पुलिस के साथ उनकी झड़प हुई, जिसमें चार लोगों की मौत हो गई और कई लोग घायल भी हुए हैं।इधर भारत मे किसानों ने दिल्ली में ट्रेक्टर मार्च निकाल कर केंद्र सरकार को अलोकतांत्रिक तरीके से अपनी शक्ति दिखाइ और धमकी दी है कि अगर केंद्र सरकार यूँकि मांगों के समक्ष नही झुकी तो 26 जनवरिकी रिपब्लिक डे परेड को बाधित किया जाएगा।अनेकों मंत्रियों का आरोप है कि यह विद्रोही गतिविधियों को विपक्ष द्वारा बढ़ावा दिया जा रहा है
कांग्रेस के सदस्य बुधवार को ‘इलेक्टोरल कॉलेज वोट’ की गिनती कर रहे थे, इसी दौरान बड़ी संख्या में ट्रंप के समर्थक सुरक्षा व्यवस्था को ध्वस्त करते हुए कैपिटल परिसर में घुस गए। पुलिस को इन प्रदर्शनकारियों को काबू करने में काफी मशक्कत करनी पड़ी।
इन हालात में प्रतिनिधि सभा और सीनेट तथा पूरे कैपिटल को बंद कर दिया गया। उपराष्ट्रपति माइक पेंस और सांसदों को सुरक्षित स्थानों पर ले जाया गया।
बिगड़ते हालात के बीच राष्ट्रीय राजधानी में मेयर मुरियल बोसर ने कर्फ्यू लगा दिया लेकिन बड़ी संख्या में प्रदर्शनकारी कर्फ्यू का उल्लंघन करते हुए सड़कों पर उतर आए।
डोनाल्ड ट्रंप, जो पहले अपने समर्थकों को बढ़ावा दे रहे थे, हिंसा के बाद उन्होंने उनसे कानून का पालन करने और घर जाने की अपील की।
ट्रंप ने एक वीडियो संदेश में कहा था, ‘‘ यह चुनाव धोखाधड़ी भरे थे, लेकिन हम ऐसा कुछ नहीं कर सकते, जिससे खुद को नुकसान पहुंचे और दूसरों को फायदा। हमें शांति चाहिए ही चाहिए। इसलिए घर जाएं।’’
राष्ट्रपति चुनाव में धांधली संबंधी पोस्ट लगातार करने पर माइक्रो ब्लॉगिंग साइट ट्विटर ने एक अप्रत्याशित कदम उठाते हुए राष्ट्रपति डोनाल्ड ट्रंप के अकाउंट पर बुधवार को 12 घंटे के लिए रोक लगा दी।
नवनिर्वाचित राष्ट्रपति जो बाइडन ने इस पूरी घटना पर कहा कि वह स्तब्ध और काफी दुखी हैं कि अमेरिका को ऐसा दिन देखना पड़ा।
बाइडन ने राष्ट्र के नाम एक संबोधन में कहा, ‘‘ इस समय, हमारे लोकतंत्र पर अप्रत्याक्षित हमला हो रहा है। हमने आधुनिक समय में ऐसा कभी नहीं देखा। स्वतंत्रता के गढ़, कैपिटल पर हमला। लोगों का प्रतिनिधित्व करने वालों और कैपिटल हिल पुलिस…और लोक सेवक जो हमारे गणतंत्र के मंदिर में काम करते हैं उन पर हमला…’’ उन्होंने राष्ट्र के नाम अपने संबोधन में कहा, ‘‘ मैं राष्ट्रपति ट्रंप से अपनी शपथ का मान रखते हुए, राष्ट्रीय टेलीविजन पर जाकर इसके अंत की मांग करते हुए संविधान की रक्षा करने की अपील करता हूं।’’ अमेरिका के सभी चार जीवित पूर्व राष्ट्रपतियों बराक ओबामा, जॉर्ज डब्ल्यू बुश, बिल क्लिंटन और जिम्मी कार्टर ने भी हमले की निंदा की है।

पंजाब के वरिष्ठ कांग्रेसी नेताओं ने अश्वनी शर्मा को चेतावनी दी कि वह निंदनीय और अनुचित व्यवहार अपनाकर मर्यादा की हदें पार न करें।
वरिष्ठ कैबिनेट मंत्री ब्रह्म मोहिन्द्रा, भारत भूषण आशु, विजय इंदर सिंगला, ओ.पी. सोनी और सुंदर शाम अरोड़ा ने राज्य के चोटी के पुलिस अधिकारी के विरुद्ध दोष लगाने के लिए अश्वनी शर्मा की निंदा की और कहा कि यह घटिया हथकंडे बी.जी.पी. की छिन चुकी साख को बचाने में बिल्कुल भी सहायक नहीं होंगे।
मंत्रियों ने कहा ‘‘आप हमारे किसानों की खालिस्तानियों, अर्बन नक्सलियों और लैफ्ट समर्थकीय के साथ तुलना की है और आगे कहा कि लोगों की आवाज़ को दबाना बी.जे.पी की हमेशा से आदत रही है, परन्तु पंजाब में उनके यह घटिया हत्थकंडे काम नहीं करेंगे, क्योंकि किसानों ने उनकी घटिया चालों और खोखले वायदों को अच्छी तरह से जान लिया है।

According to officials, toll collection was halted either past midnight or from early Friday morning at several toll points in the state.
A few days ago, the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) had announced that toll booths in Haryana would not be allowed to collect toll from December 25 to 27.
Thousands of farmers have been protesting at various border points of Delhi for around a month as the stalemate between the government and the protesters, who are demanding a repeal of the three new agri laws, continued without any signs of a breakthrough.
Enacted in September, the three farm laws have been projected by the central government as major reforms in the agriculture sector that will remove the middlemen and allow farmers to sell anywhere in the country.
However, the protesting farmers have expressed apprehension that the new laws would pave the way for eliminating the safety cushion of Minimum Support Price and do away with the mandi system, leaving them at the mercy of big corporates.
The government has repeatedly asserted that the MSP and Mandi systems will stay and has accused the opposition of misleading the farmers.

Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Friday urged the Centre to immediately initiate talks with Kisan Unions to defuse the situation triggered by the tense stand-off triggered by Haryana’s attempts to forcibly stop farmers from marching to Delhi.
CM asked “The voice of farmers cannot be muzzled indefinitely. Centre should immediately initiate talks with Kisan Union leaders to defuse the tense situation at the Delhi borders. Why wait till December 3 when the situation is getting out of hand now?,”
The Government of India needs to step in immediately to put an end to the atrocities being meted out to the peacefully agitating farmers, who had not created any law and order problem or indulged in any instance of violence over the past three months of their protest over the Farm Laws, he stressed.
Expressing concern over the situation that was spiralling out of control due to the brazen use of brute force by Haryana Police all through the National Highway leading up to the capital city, Captain Amarinder said the farmers have the democratic and Constitutional right to go to their country’s capital city to raise their voice and air their grievances.
The way the Haryana Police has been teargassing and hurling water cannons at the farmers, who include old men and women and even children, is shocking, said the Chief Minister, adding that it showed the complete lack of care and concern by the Haryana government for the nation’s `annadatas.’
Urging the Central Government to show statesmanship and accept the farmers’ demand for assured MSP, which is the basic right of every farmer, the Chief Minister said “If they can give verbal assurance I fail to understand why they can’t make it a legal obligation of the GoI.”
Captain Amarinder also came down heavily on those accusing the Congress of instigating the farmers to march to Delhi. Such people are blind not to see the lakhs of farmers trying to enter Delhi from across the country, he said, pointing out that farmers were pouring in at the Delhi borders not just from Punjab but every other agricultural state in India. “It’s a fight for their lives & livelihoods and they don’t need any backing or provocation,”

The state electricity board in Punjab announced that it would have to impose power cuts of at least two-three hours from Tuesday evening as three private thermal plants have shut down and two electricity stations nearly running out of coal.
Coal supplies to the thermal power plants were severely affected after the Railways suspended the operation of freight trains in the wake of the blockade of some tracks by farmers in protest against the three central farm laws.
Private utility GVK Power has announced that it would close down operations at 3 pm on Tuesday since coal stocks had completely run out. Two other private thermal plants — Nabha Power at Rajpura and Talwandi Sabo in Mansa — have already shut down their operations due to coal shortage.
Two state-owned utilities — Lehra Mohabbat and Ropar power plants — also have coal for just one or two days
At present, the demand for electricity in the state stands at 6,000 megawatts against a supply of 5,000 MW from other central sectors, hydro and biomass, leading to a shortage of 1,000 MW.
Several farmer outfits had announced a fortnight ago to ease their rail blockade by allowing the movement of goods trains in the state. However, members of Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan) continued to squat on two rail tracks that are used for coal supplies to two private thermal plants at Rajpura and Mansa.
Protesters under the banner of the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee are also sitting on a rail track in Amritsar.
