Deputy Registrar of the Cooperative Society Gurdaspur Bhupinder Singh and
Inspector Bhupinder Singh of the Cooperative Society Shahpur Jajan circle are suspended over the bribery allegations
As per Cooperation Minister, Punjab, S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa.
Secretary of the Athwal Multipurpose Agricultural Cooperative Society Mr. Heera Singh had leveled bribery allegations these officers and had even given an affidavit in this regard. Pursuant to this, the Deputy Registrar Bhupinder Singh was placed under suspension and his headquarter fixed at Headoffice whereas the services of Inspector Bhupinder Singh was also placed under suspension with office of the Joint Registrar Cooperative Societies, Jalandhar fixed as his headquarter. The minister further said that the Deputy Registrar Pathankot has been given the additional charge of Gurdaspur alongwith his current duty.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today said that the state government would provide financial assistance of Rs 10 crore to flood affected people and for rescue operations in Kerala.
He said that the people of Kerala had been facing heavy losses of life and property due to severe floods, and Haryana is with Kerala in this hour of need.
Punjab+Delhi+Andhra Pradesh+Maharashtra+Tamil Nadu
have already announced aid for flood-ravaged Kerala. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced an immediate financial assistance of Rs 500 crore to the state, after reviewing the flood situation there.
As many as 194 people have lost their lives and 36 are missing in Kerala since August 8 due to rains and landslides, while over 3.14 lakh people have been moved to relief camps.
The southern state is facing its worst flood in 100 years with 80 dams opened and all rivers in spate.

Yoga events held across Punjab on International Yoga Day
A series of yoga events were held across Punjab today on the occasion of fourth International Yoga Day.
A state level yoga event was organised at a sports complex in Mohali which saw participation from around 3,000 yoga enthusiasts including senior citizens, government officials, sportspersons and students, officials said.

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said that any deviation from existing practice of appointing state Governor as the Administrator of Chandigarh was not at all acceptable.
He said that though as per States Reorganization Act every parent state has sole right over its Capital city but grave injustice had been meted out to Punjab by denying Chandigarh to the state.
Badal said that Punjab has the sole right over its capital and it must be given to the state at every cost.
He said that till Chandigarh was not given to the state around four decades old practice of appointing Punjab Governor as the Administrator of Chandigarh should be continued.
He alleged that Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal was a “chronic non performer” who had “totally failed” to fulfill even a single promise in Delhi.
He said that it was a fact that Kejriwal was suffering from “anti-Punjab syndrome” and his stand on Sutlej Yamuna Link (SYL) canal was contrary to the interests of the state.
Lashing out at Congress and AAP, the Chief Minister alleged that both these parties were “conniving” to turn the state into desert by constructing SYL canal.
He alleged that while the Congress had “planned and executed plan” to snatch water of the state, the AAP was now its toes to get SYL constructed at the earliest.

With onion prices going through the roof, traders from Punjab have started importing the crop from Afghanistan through the Attari-Wagah land route.
Though onions from Kabul are not fully ripened, traders said that they are bringing it in very small quantities.
“A few traders have just started importing onion from Afghanistan. About 2-4 trucks of onions are being imported through the Attari-Wagah land route per day,” Amritsar-based trader Rajdeep Uppal told To News Agency PTI
He added that Traders from Punjab and Delhi are finding it feasible to import the crop from Afghanistan for sale in the country in the wake of its higher prices in the domestic market,
However, traders refused to disclose the rate at which they are importing the crop from Afghanistan.
“At present, the Afghanistan crop is a bit unripe. But we expect in next few days, the crop will get matured and thus more consignment will flow into India,” said Uppal, who is also former Chairman of CII Amritsar.
Meanwhile, traders are also in talks with Pakistan based suppliers for import of onion but the neighbouring nation has imposed a ban on export of the item through the Attari-Wagah land route.
Uppal said. “Exporters in Pakistan are waiting for clearance from concerned authorities to allow them to supply onion to India through the land route,”
Traders had earlier imported onion from Pakistan in January 2011 and from Afghanistan in September 2013 in the wake of shortage in supplies.
India and Pakistan had agreed to start cross border movement of trucks in October 2007 from Attari check post at Amritsar in India to Wagah border in Pakistan with an intention of boosting bilateral trade.
Currently, Pakistan allows import of 137 items from India through the Attari-Wagah land route including vegetables, oil cake and fruits.
Indian imports cement, gypsum, dry dates, rocks salt and aluminium ores among others through the route.

Punjab today joined the states which have ordered laboratory testing of Maggi noodles samples following allegations of lapses in food safety standards.
Heath and Family Welfare Minister Surjit Kumar Jayani informed to media that . almost 60 samples of Maggi noodles have been collected from various parts of the state for laboratory testing
He said that the samples have been sent for testing in a government laboratory in Amritsar.
BJP quota Minister said “If any lapse is found as per food safety standards, then appropriate action will be taken in this regard,”
The minister said a probe is being conducted by various states into the alleged lapses in food safety standards in popular instant food.
[2] The samples of Maggi instant noodles are being tested at a lab as part of the nationwide exercise over the alleged presence of mono-sodium glutamate (MSG) and lead in their food products.
As per K Amarender Reddy, Director of Institute of Preventive Medicine (IPM), 22 samples from state. are collected and sent for screening. Andhra Pradesh shares the lab with Telangana
Tamil Nadu government has also decided to send Nestle’s noodle brand Maggi to the labs
Uttar Pradesh + Kerala have already ordered the retailers in their states to take the product off their shelves.
The Food Safety Department of Tamil Nadu has initiated proceedings in this regard, collecting samples and sending them to laboratories across the state to be examined,
The Central Government had made it clear yesterday that Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is testing more Maggi samples collected from different states following the detection of MSG and lead in excess of the prescribed limit in the noodles.
Last week, a case had been lodged against Nestle India by state food regulator FSDA in a local court at Barabanki in Uttar Pradesh over safety standards of its Maggi, while actors Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit and Preity Zinta have also been dragged into it for promoting the ‘two-minute’ noodles brand
In Gujarat 39 samples of Maggi noodles have been collected and sent them for laboratory testing.
